GW Revealed Warhammer Day Chaplain 40k Rules

warhammer-day-2020 Games Workshop just revealed the rules for the new Warhammer Day Terminator Chaplain Tarentus and it looks like he’s pretty normal…

Warhammer Community announced some of the rules for Terminator Chaplain Tarentus today. It looks like he won’t be getting any extra Litanies of Battle or special relics. They did throw out some rules that they think will make him useful. But again, they are just the normal ones, but if you don’t have the codex yet, you can get a preview of some of the rules in the codex.

While they said he could be used for any chapter, Including Grey Knights, they state that you’ll just have to convert him. So we guess that means no extra weapon options. So if you don’t want a combi-flamer, get the bits ready!

The Skull Mask is nothing new either, but they say it would be perfect to represent the Emperor’s Judgement relic. If you want to see the initial model release, you can check it out here. Let’s take a closer look at what they previewed

Warhammer Day Chaplain Rules:

The mini himself! This guy received a few mixed reviews, but overall not a bad mini. Just a bit more of a slight change to the old model than anything groundbreaking for an exclusive mini.

Litanies:

We have already seen these in the new Space Marin Codex, but GW put them out again in this teaser as a reminder.

Chaplain RulesPerfect if you want to buff up your close combat troops even more. Adding 1 to the wound roll can make taking out either light infantry or possibly getting through some heavy armor way easier. If you have a few Power Fists or Thunder Hammers in a unit they could even be wounding some vehicles on 2’s.  When you’re going against t3 infantry, normal dudes will be wounding on 2’s, not too bad.

Recitation of FocusUsing this on a unit of Eradicators, Aggressors,  or basically any marine unit (since they all pump out so many shots…)  this could make them all be hitting on 2’s. When combined with rerolls of 1’s, you will hit with almost every shot (statistically). Pretty nice when you have to take down a certain unit or vehicle. If you make him the Master of Sanctity he can use two Litanies a turn and know two of them as well.

Relic:

We also saw this in Faith &Fury Psychic Awakening as well.

The Emperor's JusticeNothing new here but this is what they say his mask was designed to be. If you were looking for some special rules for this mini, welp, you ain’t getting them! At least not by the looks of it.

What do you think about no new rules for this one? Will you be picking him up regardless?
