The Worst Warhammer eBay Army Ever

ebay feature reBay Miniature Rescues is back again with another video, and this time he’s trying to rescue the worst Warhammer army he’s ever seen!

eBay Miniature Rescues is a unique channel that shows you how to take beat up, damaged minis, and restore them to their fullest potential! It’s a relatively new channel on YouTube and it’s super fun to watch what Casey is able to do with some once hopeless miniatures.

Be sure to check out all his stuff here! This week, he shows us the worst army he’s ever bought off eBay!

The Worst Warhammer Army eBay Miniature Rescues has Seen!

Worst ArmyHe got the entire army on an eBay auction for only $85! It had over 80 minis in the collection but only one picture and a really vague description. The real question is, how much work would it take to get it to a playable level. Let’s find out!

The Beat Up Army

Beat up army

Beat up army 2It was a little worse off than he expected, but man, that is a ton of minis for $85! And it is totally salvageable! He wants to eventually fix and paint every mini in the army, but obviously not all at once.

The Worst Warhammer Army: The Bloodthirster

Beat up Blood thirsterHe’s going to start the project off with the Bloodthirster! It’s going to need some serious love, let’s see how he turns it back to a place of glory.

Fixing up the Mini

Fixed up BloodthirsterHe starts by soaking the mini in a sonic to get all the old paint off. There are also some pieces missing from the whip handle, and quite obviously, the missing wings. He decided to 3D print his own wings with his Anycubic Photon printer. Now that it is stripped and the pieces printed, he’s ready to move forward.

After that, he goes to work on the whip. The first course of action is to take a Bloodletter head (since he now has so many lying around) and drill it out so it will act as a new handle of sorts. Then attached the remaining whip piece on top of that. Then he drilled out the back of the pewter so the wings have somewhere solid to fit into. After that, he pinned everything and glued it back together. Lastly, he uses Miliputty and puts it over the hands and the wings to fill any gaps and make it look more organic.

Painting the Bloodthirster

Priming stageHe starts off by priming the entire thing black, you can either do this with the airbrush or a can spray.

Paints to useNow that it’s all sprayed, it’s time to start adding color. Here are all the colors he going to be using:

Airbrushing

Airbrushing BloodthirsterHe’s going for tabletop quality since he has so many new minis to get through. He starts by airbrushing with the Vallejo Gory Red at a 45-degree angle from the top down on the entire mini. Next up he uses Mephiston Red and sprays a highlight from the top down. Lastly here he uses the Fire Dragon Bright Orange as a final highlight.

Brushing

Brush stageHe uses the same colors from above and throws them in his wet palette. Then he also mixes in some blacks and browns. Next up he base coats all the hair black and the skulls in a light brown. After that, he does a small highlight on the parts of the skin he wants to draw your eye to.

Painting the Metal

Metal StageHe uses the Vallejo metal colors here. He starts with Dark Aluminum as the basecoat and slowly moves up to lighter and lighter silvers. In the end, he mixes in some gold and copper together to give it a grimier feel.

Painting the Base

DrybrushingHe dry brushes the whole thing with Administratum Grey and Dawnstone to start. He just hits the entire base here. Then he lays down some brown and black pigment powders to cover up any problem areas and give it a more realistic feel. To finish it off he hits the whole thing with a varnish.

Finished Mini

Finished BloodthirsterThere you have it! A mini painted to a great tabletop standard. Be sure to keep tuning in because this was just the first mini he tackled from this collection!
