Top Homebrew 40k Army Lists From Into The Breach 3

40k-homebrew-army-listsThree more off-meta army lists emerged in these 9th Edition 40k tournaments over the weekend- take a look at these homebrew lists!

9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out these awesome homebrew lists that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and this just goes to show that it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Into The Breach 3: Goffs- Aaron Mosquera

Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka orks wal hor

Breech orks 1There isn’t much of an Ork presence currently in the meta, so seeing this list perform so well (they got 2nd place) is encouraging.

The HQs are pretty standard with Ghaz, a Big Mek, and the new option of a Warboss on Warbike that we saw get re-added back into the lineup with the Forge World Compendium this edition. Troops are  3 30 man Boyz squads offering a ton of bodies in typical Ork fashion, most of which are slugga & choppa with a few shootas.

Breech orks 2Moving onto Elites we see two min squads of melee Kommandos offering some more cheap bodies. There is also 2 squads of Meganobz with Power Klaws to get some great melee power in. The Elite section ends with a Painboy, offering great support to the whole list, but primarily for the Meganobz.

Breech orks 3The first detachment ends with 3 Smasha Mek Gunz, offering great firepower towards low toughness, high armor saves units, like space marines. A second tiny detachment is taken solely to add a Weirdboy for Psychic support and the signature power, Da Jump, plus a small 10 man Gretchin squad to get a few more bodies in.  With the whole thing being Goffs, they love to get more attacks on those rolls of 6 to hit.

Into The Breach 3: Iron Hands- Lee Dignam

iron hands space marine wal feirros

Breech iron hands 1Part of the uniqueness of this list is that they are Iron Hands! Irons Hands were great after they got their update last edition, borderline OP until they got FAQ’d. So it’s nice to see some people trying them out again to relative success.

For HQs they took a Primaris Librarian and Captain to help with Psychic support and auras. Of course, if you play Iron Hands you need a Feirros as well.

Breech iron hands 2For Troops two more Intercessors bring the total to 5 stock squads, giving plenty of bodies to play the objective and bodies to benefit from any auras in play. Elites bring 3 identical Redemptors entirely focused on ranged damage, they can help with chaff and important targets alike. The first Heavy Support brings an Eliminator Squad to help literally snipe enemy characters.

Breech iron hands 3There is also a 10 man Helblaster squad for anti-armour instead of the usual Eradicators we see in most lists. There is also a separate detachment to get in a Lieutenant and Intercessor squad for a few extra bodies to round out the list.

Into The Breach 3: Imperial Knights- Kayron Caruana

knight cover hor wal

Breech knightsThis knight list is unique in the fact that it’s pure knights! In the past, we usually see knights with some flavor of imperium to help capture objectives and add overall versatility to the list, but this player went all in the Knight plan!

Triple Helverins add a little bit of mobility and “smaller” arms fire, to help with less important targets. While the Triple Crusaders can either shoot down separate targets or focus fire one important target to almost ensure it gets destroyed round one. In games where there is an important target to kill, this list will excel, however, lists with lots of chaff, or simply a ton of objective control, may have issues combating them. This list has one plan, kill the enemy forces.

Overall each of these lists offers a little bit of a different approach by we like them because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta. Even better they are getting decent results from the players.
