40k Characters We Want Brought Back: Captain Leonatos

Leonotos FeatureWith Uriel Ventris getting a new 40k mini, why not dream about who else could be coming back-  we want Captain Leonatos!

Daydreaming about your favorite old characters seems to have become quite the past time in 40k. It wasn’t that long ago (maybe it was and we’ve just been playing too long…) that there were tons of characters for every army. Even Xenos armies had a bunch! Now, most codexes only include a couple (except some Space Marine ones) of characters. But with Uriel getting a mini, we let the daydreaming get the better of us!

We’ll start with Leonatos but there are dozens of characters we want back, we’re looking at you Vect.

Here is the man in all his amazing glory! It also helps this particular one was painted by a Golden Daemon Slayer Sword winner. But still, the mini is great and there is so much lore about him. He was featured in a comic strip series called Bloodquest that spanned the late 1990s to early 2000s. This was a really cool series that introduced a lot of new characters and fluff for the Blood Angels and Warhammer 40k.

052716-Leonatos-176The basic premise is that Captain Leonatos lost The Glaive Encarmine to a bunch of Chaos-tainted Orks who then brought it to the Eye of Terror. Of course, then Leonatos has to fulfill a Bloodquest now and gathers up his Honor Guard to go get it back.

The book was hard to get for about 20 years, but it has been rereleased and you can grab it here. It’s actually a great book and totally worth picking up if you want some more fluff on the Blood Angels.

Could it Happen?

Well, with the release of Uriel it isn’t impossible. Especially with the Blood Angels getting one of the first marine supplements. While he didn’t come out with the release, they did a ton of exclusive minis in 2020. So we could always see him later in 2021. It would be so cool to see more old characters come back into the light instead of more generic ones like the Terminator Chaplain.

It probably won’t happen, but it would be amazing if it did because we want him back in our games! This is all just daydreaming, but hey why not? If you want to take a deeper dive into the old mini, check out Rob’s video on it below:

Which character would you like to see come back the most? Do you have any old character minis laying around being used as generic leaders?
