It looks like we finally know more about what’s in store for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings show plot and setting wise from this synopsis!
A few days ago, theonering.net put out an exclusive article going over the rough plot and setting that has been laid out for the Amazon TV series. Let’s check out all that they have found out and anything else we might be able to add.
Amazon’s Lord of The Rings Show Synopsis SPOTTED!
It’s actually been over 3 years since the original announcement of Amazon acquiring the rights. Finally, now we know there is something in the works, it won’t be too much longer till something comes to fruition.
Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.
Numenor is also seen on the map, which went largely untouched in the films. Hopefully, this means it will be explored in the show and may even lead to other areas we have not seen before as viewers.
This is vague but also extremely exciting. One might guess that this will be about the rise of Sauron. The War of the Last Alliance ended Sauron the first time around, towards the end of the second age, but as we know he would later regain his strength and a famous hobbit would cripple him further in the film trilogy, by destroying the ring.
Amazon is reportedly planning for 5 seasons and 8-10 episodes each, so this will be a huge endeavor, with tons of possibilities. Work and filming are also well under way, so perhaps we will see the first installment sooner rather than later!
