Everything We Know About Necromunda Hive War so Far

necromunda hor walpaperWith the release date set, we wanted to take a look at what we know about Necromunda Hive War so far and what to expect!

The set was first teased back near the end of March, so the lead-up for this one wasn’t too long. As it will be part of the first pre-order on May 8th when they start back up with new releases. So let’s get into what we can expect in the new set!

New Necromunda Starter Box: Hive War

necromunda starter boxSpeaking of getting started, Necromunda is also getting an amazing new starter set, called Hive War.

New Starter sets are always welcome, as they provide great entry points of any of the various game systems and this is no different!

If you’ve ever thought about dipping your toe into Necromunda, now’s the perfect time as this box contains everything you need to get started.

Over 20 models, with 2 vastly different gangs, terrain, dice, a rule book, and everything you could need to get a fresh game of Gang Warfare going with a buddy. You can’t go wrong with this, especially if you haven’t dipped your toe in and have wanted to test the waters of Necromunda. The only issue is it comes with Escher again, so if you already bought that one, you might want to look at splitting this for sure.

Necromunda Starter Box Hive War Value

60010599001_NecromundaUnderhive012017 Necromunda Starter Set: MSRP $125

For the price on release, it’s hard to really say, because the old box was only $125, so let’s just hope this stays the same.

necromunda starter box content

  • Escher Gang (10 Minis) $42 (previous gang MSRP $35)
  • Delaque Gang (10 minis) $42 (previous gang MSRP $35)
  • Zone Mortalis Columns & Walls $60 (based on Zone Mortalis Columns & Walls Set minus the removable doors)
  • Accessories (dice, cards, tokens, and board) Should be a value add for the starter, hence the zero: $0
  • Rulebook: $30 The preview stated this as introductory so we think there will be no additional content besides base rules and fluff present- half the value of the 2018 Rulebook release that included multiple Hive Wars books (MRSP $60). It’s unknown if this new tome will include some of the various house books from the last few years, but that would certainly raise it’s value for sure!
  • Barricades & Objectives: $17.50 (appears to be one half of the terrain set of the same name)

Total: $191.50

With all the terrain, rules, and minis, this seems like a good starter box in general- even if everything besides the gangs is fractions of their equivalent standalone model kits.

If this runs at the $125 price of the old starter set, there is still value for both new and veteran players. Potentially even more so if you have a friend to split this with and get (back) into the game.

What do you think about the new box? Will you be trying to pick it up?
