New Ad Mech Serberys & Dragoon 40k Rules SPOTTED!

admech wal paperDon’t miss the new Adeptus Mechanicus Serberys and Dragoon 40k rules that were spotted coming for the 9th Edition Ad Mech codex.

We knew that Adeptus Mechanicus were getting their time in the sun very soon and with the datasheets beginning to get spotted, it’s coming up fast! Let’s check out these two datasheets and compare them to the current ones.

New Serberys Ad Mech 40k Rules

There was an Ikea style sheet of rules spotted on Reddit so let’s compare it to the old sheet and see what’s changed.

New Rules

New Bonuses (Raider):

  • +1 Toughness (was 3, now 4)
  • -1 Wound (was 3, now 2)
  • +1 Attack (was 1, now 2)
  • Galvanic Carbine -1 AP (was 0, now -1)

What we don’t know (Raider):

  • Unique weapon rules?
  • Eye of Serberys?
  • Invulvn save?
  • Beginning of game movement?

Overall, the raider seems to change rolls a little bit, the toughness and wound changes will be overall bad, but a buff to the ranged weapon encourages more hit and run tactics still. You can just get punished harder for being too risky.

New Bonuses (Sulphurhound):

  • +1 Toughness (was 3, now 4)
  • -1 Wound (was 3, now 2)
  • +1 Attack (was 1, now 2)
  • Phosphor Blast Carbine -6″ range and Assault 2D3 shots (was 24″, now 18″ and was flat Assault 4)
  • Phosphor Blast Pistol now D3 shots (was flat 1)
  • Sulphur Breath +4″ range, -1AP (was 8″, now 12″ and was -1, now -2 AP)
  • Arc Maul +1 S, -1AP (was +2 now +3 S and was -1, now -2 AP)

What we don’t know (Sulphurhound):

  • Unique weapon rules?
  • Fire Pistols after advancing?
  • Invulvn save?
  • -1 Toughness aura?

Similar to the Raiders, the toughness and wound changes will be overall bad, but a buff to the ranged weapons encourages more hit and run tactics. The buff to the melee weapon is huge too, hopefully, they keep the toughness aura so they can wound T4 on 2s.

New Dragoon Ad Mech 40k Rules

There was an IKEA style sheet of rules spotted on Reddit so let’s compare it to the old sheet and see what’s changed.

New Rules

New Bonuses (Ironstrider):

  • Twin Cognis Autocannon now Assault 6 (was Heavy 4)
  • Twin Cognis Lascannon now Assault 2 and D3+3 damage (was Heavy 2 and D6 damage)
  • Armor save +1 (was 4+, now 3+)

What we don’t know (Ironstrider):

  • Invulvn save?
  • Leadership buff aura?

Overall, the Ironstrider seems to be getting huge buffs, those extra two shots can be huge on the autocannon, and the damage buff for the Las means your always doing better on average than before.

New Bonuses (Dragoon):

  • +1 Attack (was 3, now 4)
  • Radium Jezzail -2 AP (was 0, now -2 AP)
  • Taser Lance -1 AP (was -1, now -2 AP)
  • Armor save +1 (was 4+, now 3+)

What we don’t know (Dragoon):

  • Invulvn save?
  • Leadership buff aura?
  • -1 to hit?

Overall, the Dragoon also seems to be getting huge buffs, that extra attack along with an extra AP in melee means it’s going to do even more damage than before in combat on average.

Look for the Adeptus Mechanicus codex to hit store shelves soon. As it’s probably the next major codex release for 40k and assumed to be going on pre-order in the next few weeks.

What rules changes do you want to see from the new Ad Mech? Are you happy with the Dragoon changes?
