castlebrush iron priestCheck out this amazing Space Wolves army doing battle with a crazy Abaddon conversion from the hobby minds at Castle Brush EU.

The artistic team at Castle Brush is pumping out some amazing-looking projects for the worldwide hobby community. This level of painting is extremely crisp and it lets you get an entire army on the field quickly. Sometimes we just don’t have time to paint, let Castle Brush do it for you! If you love what Castle Brush is doing, check out some of their other stuff here.

Today, we’re going to let them walk you through this wild project. That way you can hear from them how much work went into this project.

Space Wolves Army

Space Wolves vs abaddon 2Varagyr Terminators, led by Wolf Priest, take on Abaddon the Despoiler himself. That’s the overall idea we were presented for this commission. Most of the Terminator squad received the ‘Champion’ quality paint job, while their Leader, Wolf Priest, Daemonhost, and Abaddon himself were painted up to ‘Overlord’ quality. For a quick round-up of the minis’ paint levels:

  • 4x Varagyr Terminators – ‘Champion’ level
  • Varagyr Terminator Leader – ‘Overlord’ level
  • Wolf Priest with options – ‘Overlord’ level
  • 1x Daemonhost – ‘Overlord’ level
  • Abaddon the Despoiler conversion – ‘Overlord’ level

We magnetized the Wolf Priest – giving him either combi-melta or plasma pistol and an option to wear a jump-pack. Miniatures were based on snowy wasteland bases we used before for Emperor’s Children Commission.

abaddon 2Abaddon himself was also quite a pickle. This build is a wild amalgamation of the new sculpt from the 40k line, and Ezekyele Abaddon from ‘Abaddon and Loken’ Forge World set. The result has a very distinctive look. Portraying Abaddon almost like an in-between transition from the 30k to 40k timeline. He is yet to wear the Talon of Horus, yet he already has the Drach’nyen demon sword. His cloak was a bit reshaped to match his new base (another example of using bits from both FW and GW set), which is a doomed, snowy wasteland littered with the remains of past combatants – in this case, Space Wolves. His trophy rack is also a bit smaller. The standard version was a bit too big and disrupted the miniature’s balance a bit too much, so we opted for the less-developed look since the trophy rack was here to stay.

Daemonhost

DaemonhostLast but not least, we painted the Daemonhost miniature to accompany Abaddon through his warp-travel through time and space, and provide a bit of the backup for his current confrontation with the Space Wolves.

Another very pleasing and unique project, the kind of we love the most!

That does it today for this awesome project. If you are looking for a studio that can handle anything from dioramas to full-scale armies, make sure you check out the creative team at Castle Brush today!
