Imperial Guard Booby Traps: GW Rumor Engine

Rumor Engine new GW header wal horWe’ve got a new GW rumor engine that looks like the Imperial Guard may have just got a booby trap kit.

Warhammer Community just unveiled one more rumor engine and this time it looks like some sort of rucksack with some fun accessories attached to it. Check out the details of this bit that look to be on the way for 40k!

Imperial Guard Booby Traps: GW Rumor Engine

rumor engine 5-4-2021After first taking a look at this bit, Astra Militarum immediately comes to mind as a possible home for the full model. With Imperial Guard still needing their 9th edition update, this looks like a perfect match. Not to mention Catachan has received a few rumors here and there in the community over the past year.

To us, this looks like tripwire and a mine, perfect for purging enemies of the Emperor by surprise!

Technically there’s nothing proving this isn’t a fantasy/AoS bit, but it does just inheritably feel like a guard bit.

catachan rumor bitEven just checking current Catachan models the backpack seems to be very similar. The style/design and the straps seem to line up pretty well. This very well may lead to a new Catachan release! We all know they desperately need some GW love.

Especially once you consider how popular they have remained even after receiving such little support in new models over the years.

Anyway, hopefully, we know sooner than later!

What do you think this is? Do you think it could be for a new Guard release?
