Even more Horus Heresy rumors have been circulating the interwebs pointing at a new edition that’s on the way soon!
Before we begin, these are rumors, so take them for what you will, but there are some pretty convincing ones. These come fromBolter and Chainsword, and they were leaked from a playtester on the new edition.
We covered already how the new Maloghurst mini spotted a few weeks ago in Sons of Horus colors, paired with all the new images of Mark VI armored marines and a Spartan tank that appears plastic, could mean big things.
But today we’ll cover the leaks from a rumored playtester and break down what they could all mean.
More Horus Heresy Rumors Point to a New Edition
Images of Mark VI armored marines and a Spartan tank that appears plastic,
1.Heresy 2.0 this year
2.Plastic starter set to be released with it or after it.
3. A lot of plastic kits are coming/already been made
4. No more black books
5. Rules still old 7th Ed just cleaned up and someone new things added.
6. Dreads have wounds.
7. Big focus on heresy again to be in line with AoS/40k
So these are all the big supposed things happening and were spurred on by a comment by Anuj Malhotra, saying to hang in there and great things are coming.
Is 2.0 coming this year? We think yes and that it could very well be the Black Friday release this year!
Plastic Kits
When you compare this to other Forge World releases, it has a different feel than a lot of the resin minis. With all the small fiddly parts, like the chains, tubes, etc… Not exactly sure why, but everything about the mini just screams plastic. Also, in the article, they never say this is going to be actually from Forge World, which begs the question, could this mean a full kit from GW?
Well, all the rumors are pointing towards yes, which would also hopefully mean it’s cheaper than a full Forge World Release. What other kits could already be in production? We really don’t know as of yet, but they have plenty to choose from!
The previous starter set, Prospero Burns sold for $150 and came out in late 2016, nearly 5 years ago!
Considering they are basically two editions behind 40k in terms of rules, the timing is right to give the game a revamp. But some people love the idea that it’s a much different ruleset. Since the Legion dispatch is going to be an ongoing series, it would make sense for them to introduce a bunch of new minis, then release them all at the same time.
Industry insiders have been telling us here at Spikey Bits that something “very cool is on the horizon” for Horus Heresy, but with all the external factors affecting product releases worldwide, it’s hard to even say when we may see it.
Traditionally GW releases new big-box game starters for sci-fi lines around Black Friday in November, just like with the last two HH box sets. So perhaps all this is a build-up to that…
Rules
Keeping the style in 7th would honestly be a good thing. If you want to play with 8th or 9th rules, just play them instead! That’s one of the things that really makes the game fun and different.
Plus, with a much smaller team working on the rules, it would make for a much easier and smoother transition to keep the base of the game similar, but just add on new stuff. This would keep the loyal players loving the game, and maybe entice new players to start with new things like Dreads having wounds.
In-Line with 40k/AoS
This one is a little harder to say because while big things may be on the way, it seems hard for them to keep the releases and such on the same scale. It could totally happen, but with how allocations and production have been going, not sure what on par really means.
This is one we feel we’ll have to wait and see on, as getting a few big releases doesn’t really raise it to the same level. Again for the Black Books, it really just depends on how they want to release the game and rules, so take that for what you will.
Which of these rumors do you think are true? Are you excited about the rumored new HH plastic kits?
