The 2021 ITC Code of Conduct is updated and here to keep your games 40k “that guy proof”, take a few minutes to check this out!
They put a lot of thought into these, and the whole document is about 20 pages long. The whole thing focuses on one idea though, a fun gaming experience! So if you’re ever playing a tournament, ITC or not, please be nice and keep the game’s fun. We all want to win, but nobody wants to play against “that guy really”.
We’ll cover some highlights from this, but at 15 some pages long, you can read the entire thing, you can here. There is a lot of the standard stuff in here about conduct, but some spicy rules as well! Let’s get into it.
2021 ITC Code of Conduct Updated: Just be Nice
This is just a good way to approach all your games, just stick to the spirit of having fun, being friendly, and being a good sport. If you do, you should always have some fun games.
These shouldn’t be an issue, but we’ve seen some issues lately with this set of rules. Three interesting things though, if you report an opponent for not giving you a mulligan, that’s a foul on you.
If you touch your minis after moving them, without announcing why can get you a red card, hopefully, this stops people from moving their minis slightly closer. Lastly, if you keep rolling out of sight of your opponent, that’s a card.
We love this change because it just keeps everyone honest.
Bring Correct Lists
If you don’t lay out your list correctly, you will be given a yellow card and a 20 point penalty. If you play a game with an incorrect list, you are DQ’d and given a red card. This is good in the sense that it will force people to pay more attention to their lists.

We’ve all seen someone right before a game, be like, oh yeah, this guy has this. If you do that now, penalty.
Decorum & Tools
Look, if you cuss or mock your opponent in a mean way, you deserve a penalty. There’s absolutely no reason to be mean! Also, there are big penalties for Angle Shooting, as there should be. This is a great way for more experienced players to not take advantage of inexperienced players by leading them to bad decisions on the sly…
Just bring easy-to-read dice, don’t bring the hardest-to-read dice on earth. This just makes it so much easier for everyone.
Cards
The card system is pretty self-explanatory but good to know nonetheless.
What do you think about the rules? Are you going to an ITC tournament this year?
