New Dark Krakens Space Marines 40k rules from the latest White Dwarf focus around the Salamanders Successor Chapter with two characters!
They say you can pick these rules when you’re playing certain Crusade games but they also provide the points for them as well. So we don’t really see any reason why you couldn’t play them in friendly games just with the points provided. Maybe as just an add-on to your Salamanders, or take the place of your normal characters.
There weren’t a ton of rules in the White Dwarf but did have the Designer’s notes on how to play them and two new characters. Both are pretty interesting and will add a ton of flavor to your games. As we said, they are designed for Crusade, but you could easily play them in a friendly game because they give you points!
Dark Krakens New Space Marines 40k Rules
It only makes sense that the successor chapter would use the rules for the Salamanders. This is a cool little addition by them to give you a little idea of how to best represent them on the tabletop, plus, you don’t want to play a boring chapter anyway!
Just remember, they are made up of entirely Primaris, so don’t be sneaking those First Born in there.
Krijeni has some interesting items, but if you’re not playing him in Crusade, you do miss out on the Captain of the 5th Company. The Ice Piercer can dish out a decent amount of Damage with S 6, -3 AP, and D2. His Ravens Reach can also deal some good damage, but with it being Heavy, he’ll probably be hitting on 3’s most of the time.
Lastly, he buffs up your units, so that’s nice. For 110 points, he’s not too bad.
Paraon is a Psyker with decent stats and some nice buffs to his casting abilities. That extra 1 to the mortal wounds is also really sweet. Overall, nothing too crazy, but it’s always fun to play with the lesser-known chapters!
