After being proposed via the LEGO Ideas portal, this new Knight Rider Kit has been fully supported and will see an official release!
If you didn’t already know, LEGO puts up fan-created kits on their Ideas site for builders to vote on. This gives the kits an opportunity to garner support from the community and the best kits can then be created as official products!
This Knight Rider kit can be found there, but we will also cover some of the details below.
The user who designed and suggested this kit, HenkvdL05, had this to say about his inspiration:
Being a kid from the 80’s I was a big fan of the Knight Rider series. I recently had a blast from the past with the release of a new advert from one of our local chicken fast food outlets featuring K.I.T.T with a new Michael and where K.I.T.T has been for the last few years, which also happened to include a cameo from David Hasselhoff the original Michael Knight. This in turn triggered my curiosity to how close we can get the design of K.I.T.T in LEGO form with the latest LEGO elements. The result, my version of K.I.T.T, The crime-fighting nearly indestructible A.I car and the F.L.A.G Mobile command Unit where K.I.T.T most famously ramped up and deployed from while the SEMI truck remained in motion.
If anything is true, it’s that this kit looks just like the real deal. Not to mention Knight Rider is close to many people who grew up in and around the 80s.
Both K.I.T.T and the F.L.A.G Mobile Command Unit (The Semi) were designed in scale to fit in with the new 8 stud wide vehicles that were introduced by LEGO in early 2020.
Of course, the iconic car will be able to fit right into the back of the F.L.A.G, but it’s great to know a lot of the newer vehicle kits will also have the potential to fit in and create new worlds for young LEGO fans.

When on display, you can also flip down the side panels to see inside as the crew and famous characters are lounging about. If the nostalgia of Knight Rider wasn’t enough, this kit just looks like a fantastic build with plenty of display options.
