Freelance Writer Specialist (Job Posting Link)

Spikey Bits is now hiring for our article team! If you are a writer and love keeping up with the latest tabletop wargaming news and hobby articles, this position may be for you!

We’re looking for writers with the following skills:

  • Ability to analyze information from press releases and articles to create quality and insightful content (that sometimes references previous articles) for the website.
  • Able to meet deadlines 
  • Flexible availability throughout the week based on the Eastern US timezone (-5GMT)
  • Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress is a plus, Word or Google Docs is a must.
  • Proofreading work after each post is a must as well.
  • Ability to take instruction and apply format changes per editors in future posts.
  • Be entrenched in the tabletop community for what types of content will resonate based on topic, etc.
  • Previous writing experience in English is a plus but not required; however, good writing skills, such as grammar and word choice, are.
  • Ability to research topics and source them properly based on editor feedback.

We are also always looking to collaborate with content creators currently publishing content and are looking to gain a bigger reach as well. Please contact us to see how we could potentially work together to help you get in front of one of the biggest audiences in Tabletop Wargaming!

Part-time positions are available now. Pay starts at $12 an hour, negotiable.

About Travis Pasch: Travis has been a Warhammer 40k hobbyist since the 1990s, playing the game since Third Edition. Through extensive traveling, he’s seen a lot of the miniatures hobby from across the world, giving him a unique perspective on the latest gaming topics and trends.

Travis’s brother even owns a commission painting studio, where he’s picked up a lot of good advice and techniques for painting Warhammer and tabletop miniatures over the years, as well. Travis joined the Spikey Bits team in 2019 and has been the lead writer since 2020.

Currently, he’s working on converting all his 40k Adeptus Mechanicus models and becoming a true tech enjoyer, complete with both sad and happy robot noises!
