Orruk Brutes are True Armored Behemoths

Whilst the Ironjawz Orruk clans are a diverse tide of green and armor. One of their most notorious groups is their hordes of Orruk Brutes. These hulking masses of green muscle form a powerful battering ram to smash through their enemy no matter what. As foot soldiers for Ironjawz warclans they see tons of action in every battle they find themselves in. Other Orruks might fight on mounts or sling projectiles at their foe, the Brutes are a lot simpler. A good pair of Choppas and a charge is all they need, they simply live for the Waaagh!

The Brutes are possibly the most simple Orruk type found in Ironjawz clans. Warchanters spur the green tide on into the carnage, Gore-gruntas race about with unmatched speed, and Weirdnobs are able to destroy their enemy without even touching them. Those weird other greenskins all matter not to the Brutes, they know they are the best kind of Orruk because they’re brutal. They fight most of all Orruks and experience the joy of melee combat. This alone is enough to keep the Brutes content. Because of this they are often found together with their Megabosses or other superiors, for they allow the Brutes to get right into the thick of it.

When Brutes get into a fight, they prefer two kinds of opponents: those enemies that hide behind large high walls, caves, or fortresses and those that are bigger than them. The latter is explained quite easily. Brutes want to be the biggest around, so any foe bigger than them is sure to provoke their wrath. Whether a lord on a mounted beast or a monster, none are allowed to be bigger than the Brutes. The former has an equally simple explanation. Enemies that are stuck in a fortress can’t flee. Thus they have no other choice but to suffer the Waaagh! of the Ironjawz.

On the Field

orruk bruteOn the Tabletop of the Mortal Realms, Brutes are a battleline option for a Big Waaagh! or Ironjawz army. With 3 wounds and a 4+ save they are a sturdy addition to your army, perfect to keep smashing the enemy while keeping them from smashing you. However their slow movement of just 4″ makes them vulnerable to damage dealers from a distance. Powerful archers or wizards can quickly spell their doom.

Orruk Brutes have a plethora of weapons to bring into battle. The basic Brute can wield either a Pair of Brute Choppas or a Jagged Gore-hacka. Both are solid weapons with a 3+ to hit and wound. The main difference is that the Pair of Brute Choppas have 4 attacks as oppose to the 3 of the Jagged Gore-Hacka. That one however has a longer range. Thus both are solid options for the Orruk Brutes to smash their enemies with. One in every five models can wield a Gore-choppa which has a 4+ to hit but deals twice the damage their normal weapons do.

The leader of a pack of Brutes is the Brute Boss. They can replace their weapon with either a Boss Choppa, a Brute Choppa but with double the damage, or a Boss Klaw and Brute Smasha with more attacks and damage but a 4+ to hit. Brutes also really focus on taking down big enemies with their Duff Up da Big Thing ability. Should their target have more than 4 wounds, they add a 1 to all their hit rolls.

Orruk Brutes are the armoured wrecking balls of the Green Tide.
