Rogue Trader 40k Rules Coming Back In Octarius Book 2

octarius-critical-mass-rogue-trader-rulesIt looks like those 40k Rogue Trader rules are coming back to in the latest War Zone Octarius book- check out what’s on the way!

With the Octarius Book 1 released, GW is following it up with the second book in the supplement series for Warhammer 40k.

Warhammer Community just unveiled the table of contents and Rogue Traders are grabbing a small number of rules (page-wise).

We rejoin the conflict as the Pankallis Sub-sector teeters on the brink of collapse and all efforts to halt the sudden invasion of Orks and Tyranids have failed. Inquisitor Van Roth and the Deathwatch have disappeared into the depths of an Aeldari maiden world in the hopes of replicating critical Ork technology, and all the while more xenos hordes pour into the sector with every passing day.

So, the usual amount of rules for an army in these supplements is about four pages, five if you’re lucky. Here the “Astra Cartographica” are grabbing 3 pages worth of stuff which is almost entirely datasheets and points, but still an update!

Let’s take a look at the previous Rogue Trader 40k rules to get an idea of how these new ones might work from Octarius. If you remember the  “new” Inquisition 40k rules in the first Octarius book, were pretty much a copy-paste from Psychic Awakening Pariah.

So it stands to reason the Rogue Trader rules may only get a small refresh as well.

warrant of trade New Teasers: Rogue Trader Rules For Warhammer 40k

Warrant of trade is the Rogue Traders version of the Authority of the Inquisition rule allowing models to embark on any kind of vehicle that has the Imperium keyword. If the stats are good enough on the Rogue Traders, you can throw one into your list as an Auxillary detachment and let them tag along with the rest of your force without any headache.

This is an important ability for a soup/mercenary unit like these ones.

This entire squad was a measly 36 points. That’s it. You got weapons that did two damage a pop, five Voidsmen (similar to Guardsmen), and a pupper named Aximillion. All for 36 points. The rotor cannon was by far the best weapon on the list here as it’s a solid 4 shots. It could get some Terminators off your back if they start trying to get froggy with you.

As for Aximillion, he was not amazing. His stats were underwhelming. But he IS just a dog in the grimdark 40k universe so what can we expect.

Overall it’s a great time to play 40k as new updates bring renewed life to the game, however with supplement after supplement (not to mention the FAQs, etc.) there is a cost in money and time.
