Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Return Of The Leftovers GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Return Of The Leftovers GT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorite, but still strong lists!

Return Of The Leftovers GT: David Fields – Chaos Knights (5th Place)

Knight Heretic chaos wal hor

david fields homebrew 1David decided to go full Chaos Knights with 3 large knights accompanied by a few War Dogs. First up there is a Knight Atrapos, offering up high AP shots and a pretty good melee weapon as well. The next knight is a Castigator, which comes with a 16 shot 2 damage gun, making it perfect for clearing squads of Space Marines! For the last of the big knights, there is a Rampager, which is going to be the main melee threat, having a decent chance at one turning anything it gets into combat with.

david fields homebrew 2For the rest of the list, we see 4 War Dogs added in. Two are running spear/cleaver and the other are just going autocannons. This makes for a mix of chaff clearing and a small boost to anti-armor threat if needed.

This list just goes to show us that mono faction, point dense, lists can still perform decently, but you still have to play it correctly! It also proves that older, strong lists can still perform decently with shifting metas sometimes.

The new balance update may have also helped bring this faction up to speed with their new Objective Secured access!
