Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Hee Yaw Texan RTT

40k-homebrew-army-listsAnother off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in The Hee Yaw Texan RTT, check this one out!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

4th Place: Daniel Weseloh – Blood Angels

Daniel Weseloh homebrew 1Daniel went for a battalion of Blood Angels, and while they might be known for the idea of “Smash Captains”, people really haven’t been playing them much, so seeing them do well here (with Daniel’s own twist) is encouraging!

The force is led by Dante, a Primaris Chaplain on Bike, and a Sanguinary Priest. Dante provides the list with two re-roll abilities, while also being a great melee unit with 6 attacks at 7 strength! The Chaplain helps by bringing in litany support to help push the list over the edge thanks to his support abilities, while the Sanguinary Priest helps to protect nearby Blood Angel units.

Troops keep it relatively tame with 5 Assault Intercessors, 5 Incursors, and 5 Infiltrators. Each of these are basic troops with some minor tweaks to loadout and some abilities, but overall these are objective grabbers and chaff for the enemy to chew through.

Elites are where nearly all of the points are spent! Starting out with a 5 man Thunderhammer-Jumpack Death Company squad, these models are meant to suicide in and hopefully cause some havoc in the process (just like their purpose in lore too).

Next up is a Sanguinary Ancient which has a pretty sweet +1 to hit ability near the warlord. Following the ancient is 9 Sanguinary Guard, who have the same +1 to hit ability and feature both a great ranged and melee weapon, making them pretty flexible threats. The last elite is a unit of 10 Jump Pack Vets running full Storm Shields and Claws, making for a big squad of mobile, durable, and dangerous melee threats that will kill whatever they touch.

Finally, there is heavy support with a unit of 3 Eradicators, some of the best anti-armor ranged units in the game, and a Whirlwind that can help take out the chaff from afar, clearing the way for the lists melee threats to make their devastating charges.
