Rob is back unboxing the newest releases for the Eldar. He’ll see what it takes to get them ready for the tabletop, show the size of the models, and tell you the GOTCHAS to be aware of when building them!
We are going to show you everything including the sprues, bits, and of course, the size. That way you can decide if these are worth your hard-earned hobby dollars.

This is basically the first wave of new Eldar releases. The prices have gone up on these as they have been redesigned, and the Guardians have basically gone up $20 for the new kit.
Some people are upset, but new sculpts will always be more from GW. Then the Warlocks are also $55, so definitely some feel bads there for the price too.
We’ll go over all four kits in this review, so let’s start with the Dark Reapers.
Dark Reapers Unboxing
There aren’t a ton of options for these, but the posing does look pretty cool, and Rob actually thinks the skull heads could be cool, even though people were making fun of it. They just need to be painted better!
You can also build this to just have 5 regular dudes with no Exarch, or obviously, you can build him if you want. They don’t look too hard to assemble, but since they are Eldar, they do have some small parts.
You get three of the smaller sprues with this one and all the bases, plus some stuff for the shrine. The parts have a lot of detail even though it is a fairly simple kit.
Eldar Guardians Unboxing
You actually get a lot of bits with this one on three different sprues. and a new decal sheet and everything you need to build the different platforms.
This kit has 152 bits in total and you will be able to switch between Storm and Defenders. It looks possible to magnetize the arms, but Rob probably won’t be doing that for every one of them.
The bodies are the same for either, however, how they are set up, it is going to take a while to build them. It does give them a more dynamic pose but will take some time.
The Storm Guardians have a lot more bits and look to be a more in-depth build.
Eldar Warlocks Unboxing
This is the kit that has everyone scratching their heads the most about price. It’s just one sprue and it’s $55, but you do get two characters, which is something.
There are some little oddities in the build, like attaching the feet to the cloak, which is a little strange. However, you get a decent number of choices for weapons, arms, and heads. But, you do only get one of each weapon, so you can only have one spear and one sword.
Maugan Ra Unboxing
This is actually a really cool-looking sprue and very dynamic. The sprue just looks great overall.
There are some little pieces that might be hard to glue down because so much goes to the cape. In theory, this doesn’t look too hard, Rob is just worried about gapping.
Unboxed & Built Miniatures
The Dark Reapers look great, and even though there are some flat areas, it gives you a ton of room to paint and wash.
They are just super dynamic, but also quite tiny. The real question just comes down to if you want to spend $60, as they are really well made, are easy to build, and look great, but they are expensive.
Maugan Ra is just an awesome model! Overall it went together pretty well, just be sure to use the Tamiya Extra Thin Cement and it will fill that little bit of gaping you see above.
They say these are Warlocks, but we don’t think anyone would be mad if you used them as Farseers! Overall, they are pretty cool, but again the price is a little hard to get by.
You can actually magnetize all your Guardians to be both variations, it will just be a lot of work.
If you do, you can magnetize the arms with the 1/16″ X 1/32″ Magnets from the Magnet Baron. They all look pretty decent and have some pretty dynamic poses. It is also nice you get four fusion guns in the kit as well.
The platforms are pretty easy to magnetize with those same magnets, but you do need the shield on the front glued down. They all fit in pretty easily, even if you don’t magnetize the Guardians,
Rob does recommend magnetizing the weapons because you can even do it with the Storm Guardians one as well.
Size Comparisons
They are all sized pretty well but are just super thin (other than Maugan Ra that is!).
