The Paint Pot Challenge has Created Amazing Warhammer Models!

Citadel Paint Pot ChallengeIf you like interesting creations that push what a mini is, then the Citadel Paint Pot Challenge is probably something…

So, if you somehow haven’t seen any of the paint pot minis on social media quite yet, here’s a quick breakdown.

Ao Sebastien originally made a model out of a pot of Nuln Oil. Everyone loved it so much that they painted it and eventually turned it into a community event! There were even prizes for the winners! This really took AoS and 40k fans by storm.

It’s just awesome to see stuff like this because it’s all fun, light-hearted, and just great for the hobby! We’ll check out some of our favorites, but the community really showed up, and tons of people made their own, which we love to see.

The Paint Pot Challenge has Created Amazing Warhammer Models!

Call me Sir PotiningtonThis is the mini that started it all! Coming from Ao, something about the novelty and fun of this model just grabbed everyone’s attention.

People gave such good feedback that they had to paint it! And we will say, this is amazing! Not to mention this is actually a real pot of paint, so you better not let this fall over, or its guts might spill all over. Then, people loved the idea so much that they turned it into a full challenge for other painters!

The Competition

paintpot challengeThey actually grabbed some big cool prizes for the winners, so it wasn’t just for pride. You can see just how many people entered, and each one is awesome, creative, and just such a good representation of the hobby. As you can see, there were tons of awesome entries, but let’s look at the winners!

paintpot challenge 2Taking the number 1 spot and an awesome trophy which we’ll get to later, is @shelveystudio! Just look at the scene they created, a fallen paint warrior, but his fellow fighter will carry on in his name!

paintpot challenge 3Second place went to this disgusting and beautiful pot of Nurgling Green by @grimdark_gravis_guy. The paint seems to have gone a little sour, but what else would you expect from Nurgle?

In third place, we have this awesome undead warrior rising from a pot of Stirland Battlemire by @drowsycobra. Talk about making a scene!

paintpot challenge 5This one is just about as fun as you can get! A pot filling itself up before battle, getting ready to do battle on the wet palette from @tinker_swede. Now, let’s see what kind trophy and prizes there were!

The Trophy and Prizes

Now, this is a trophy you could display with pride! If we won, we would take it to every game as a nice little way to obviously make you roll better. This wasn’t all they received, however. The first-place winner also received a mini case from Frontier Wargaming, plus a $12.18 / £10 donation to a charity of their choice.

Second place took home a box of Tzeentch Arcanites, Tzaangors, and some Warhammer badges. but the prizes weren’t really the focus of this event. It was meant to bring together us wargamers for a bit of fun and to put paint on paint!
