Chaos Knights are clawing their way up into competitive play as a new homebrew Warhammer 40k army list emerged at the Orange County Classic!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players take lists with units that nobody expected. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This shows us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists. Instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

Orange County Classic: Eloy Oakley– Chaos Knights 5th Place

Eloy’s top 8 Chaos Knight list was a very straightforward but effective strategy. In his Super-Heavy detachment, there was only 1 “big” knight, and it was an Abominant. It’s no secret that the biggest benefit for this knight over other options is that it is a psyker!

Psychic support is a huge benefit to a faction that had to splash a second force to have any at all before this addition, so it is easy to see why Chaos Knight players like it so much.

After that, there are a lot of War Dogs. There are two Executioners that feature double Autocannons for versatile shots at armored targets. Following them are 5 Karnivores, which benefit from great melee power thanks to their Claws and Talons.

Finally, 3 Stalkers wrap up the list with some fantastic chaff-killing power, thanks to the Chaincannons.
