We will show you everything, including the sprues, bits, and of course, the size of the new Imperial Guard models. That way, you can decide if these are worth your hard-earned hobby dollars.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 2This is the box we’re going to look at today, but before we get into the actual sprues and such, let’s look at the value!

Imperial Guard Cadia Stands Army Box Value

Cadia Stands Astra Militarum Army Set

Prove that Cadia still stands as you start a new Astra Militarum force with this army set – which contains 28 completely new miniatures. It includes 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a five-man Cadian Command Squad, a Sentinel with Armoured and Scout Sentinel configurations, and two Field Ordnance Teams – the vanguard of a revamped Astra Militarum range.

Just like the previous Black Templars, the Leagues of Votann, and Beast Snagga army box sets, the pricing for the Imperial Guard (or Astra Militarum) Cadia Stands army box is $200.

Here’s the estimated value inside the box:

  • 20 Cadian Shock Troops $120 (10 Krieg are $60, could be $50 as current Cadians with upgrade sprue are $50)
  • Cadian Command Squad  $45 (Old squad $42, could also be $60 for five models similar to the Celestian Sacresants or Eldar Aspects)
  • Sentinel $60 (the same price as Dragoons / Contemptor Dreadnought and similar size on 60mm base, however, it’s on an 80mm, so could be more)
  • Two Field Ordnance Teams $70 (Firestrike turrets on 80mm bases are $35 each & Armigers were $70 originally, but now $85)
  • Codex $55
  • Cards $38

Army Box Retail Price: $200 Total MSRP: $388

Savings Versus Box Price: $188 (estimated)

 Instructions:

Cadia Stands Unboxing 3First up is the command squad, and you actually have a ton of poses and options possible in this kit, which is always nice. Plus, your build options are pretty easy to see with the color-coded instructions.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 4The sergeant for the shock troops has a decent number of options. Just one thing to keep in mind, though, your Cadian troops can no longer have heavy weapons in the regular squads.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 5The field ordinance batteries are fairly easy looking to build. They also have a few weapon options, but nothing too crazy. The assembly up until this point is all the same. Then, you have to decide which weapons to mount. To magnetize the weapons, you’ll need some magnets in the base model itself, and then you’ll be able to switch out the guns.

Check out the video for more on how to magnetize these models.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 6The sentinel will have both the scout and armored options inside.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 7The weapons all look to be plug-and-play, meaning you won’t have to magnetize anything; just build all the different weapons and put on which ones you want. The same goes for the armored and scout variants, where the armor could just plug and play as well.

Sprues

Cadia Stands Unboxing 8These models are “thinner” compared to the old Cadians, which is interesting. Overall though, there is a lot of detail.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 9The command squad sprue still has many options, but they still look a lot smaller than before as well.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 10For the Sentinels, they look to be pretty plug-and-play like the instructions implied above, which is nice.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 11The Field Weapon Batteries are one of the few kits with three sprues, and on this size base, there is a chance they go for more than we predicted, as Armigers go for $85 for two now…

Built Cadia Stands Miniatures

Cadia Stands Unboxing 12The command squad models are really detailed, and even the “normal guys” in the squad have a lot going on.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 13

Cadia Stands Unboxing 14Remember that these are “thinner” than the previous plastic Cadian models. Not in a bad way, just something to keep in mind as they are the same size (basically) as theForge World Death Korps of Krieg miniatures.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 15The command squad leader is pretty cool and with a lot of options.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 16The basic Guardsmen build fast but are still pretty dynamic.

Assembled Sentinel

Cadia Stands Unboxing 17For the Sentinel, it builds up pretty easily, well, other than the shinguards. So what Rob would recommend is to attach the shinguard first and then build the rest.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 18You can just build the weapons all up, and you don’t even have to magnetize them! All you have to do is stick on whatever weapon you want for that game. Really, it’s a great design, as instead of magnetizing all the options, they just pop on, and off.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 19Lastly, for the armor plates (and armored version), all you need is a little blue-tac and put them on over the roll cage, and bam, you have a different variant!

Assembled Field Ordinance Batteries

Starting with the armor plate on the front, you can just add some blue-tac (as there are two different front plates) and just move those depending on the gun choice.

Then, for the actual guns, you must add a bit of ferrous metal (or galvanized steel) to each of the two gun mounts.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 22Next, drill in the spots above and mount two stacks of 1/8 x 1/16″ magnets, as seen in the picture above, that will let you change all the guns.

Cadia Stands Unboxing 20This will let you future-proof your weapons without that much hassle!

Final Thoughts

Cadia Stands Unboxing 24This has a ton of new minis inside (well, actually, all of them), and depending on the actual cost of the models, this probably has a lot of value as well!

So, if you want the new Imperial Guard models and rules, this may be a “must-have” for you.  Be sure to watch the video below for all the details!
