Is it Worth It?

Canoptek DoomstalkerHonestly… no. The only thing you get for “free” is the Overlord, which isn’t even a totally new mini but is finally available on its own. So, there isn’t even the value of getting a hard-to-find mini.

Realistically, you’d probably be better off just buying what models you want and not a collection that GW has chosen for you. This is one of the lowest values we’ve ever seen in a Combat Patrol, and we would recommend trying to find the Indomitus starter from the secondary market; any of the Christmas Battleforces, or even the old CP Box is a better value.

How Many Points is the Necrons Combat Patrol Box?

So, you’re wondering how many points the Necrons Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 420 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate. One minute, you’re ready to retake your empire, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Necron Warriors

necron warrior box

Necron Warriors make up the bulk of a tomb world’s seemingly endless army. These fleshless mechanoids, numbering in the millions, stand ready to take on the living races of the galaxy. Their ancient limbs might be rusted with age, but their metallic muscles are as strong as ever, and their loyalty to their Overlords remains rock solid.

Skorpekh Destroyers

necron skorpekh destoryer 2Lurching ahead with awkward yet deadly strides, Skorpekh Destroyers swing their weaponized limbs in a whirlwind of carnage. Once unleashed on the battlefield, these crazed Necrons are driven by an unshakable, hard-wired urge to kill. Nothing can stand in the way of their murderous frenzy.

Canoptek Doomstalker

Canoptek Reanimator whiteCanoptek Doomstalkers move with an unsettling grace. Whether they’re patrolling their masters’ armories as ever-vigilant guardians or dishing out mobile firepower for the Necron legions, these mechanical nightmares obliterate anyone foolish enough to oppose them with blazing shots from their doomsday blasters.

Necron Overlord

Overlord with Tachyon ArrowOverlords spearhead the Necron dynasties into battle with lightning-fast android minds and nearly indestructible bodies, but it’s their unbreakable wills that truly terrify. Armed to the teeth with arcane and deadly weapons, they wield shimmering hyperphase blades that cut through dimensions and wrist-mounted tachyon arrows that unleash devastating bolts of energy.

New Necrons Combat Patrol Rules

As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for global domination, the Amonhotekh’s Guard box comes loaded with rules to help you rumble across the battlefield. The Necrons may be all about staying in the fight, but they’re still Necrons at heart, rocking the same Reanimation Protocols army rule as before.

What sets them apart this time are new Enhancements, secondary objectives, and Stratagems that sharpen their game even more. You can get all the new Necrons Combat Patrol rules right here.

New Protocol Enhancement

Necrons Combat Patrol RulesThe Overlord’s been simmering in rage for a few million years, and when they lock eyes on what they see as the galaxy’s latest batch of unworthy pests, that disgust hits like a shockwave. It’s so intense it actually fires up the troops to laser in on the Overlord’s unfortunate target.

In your Command phase, just pick an enemy unit within 12″ that your Overlord can see. For the rest of the turn, every time one of your Necron models swings at that unlucky unit, you get to re-roll any hit rolls of 1.

Stratagem

Necrons Combat Patrol Rules 2Necron bodies aren’t just any old metal—they’re made of some freaky, supernatural stuff with bizarre properties. When the chips are down, their living metal can suddenly surge with energy, shrugging off even the nastiest enemy attacks. During your opponent’s Shooting or Fight phase, right after one of their units picks its targets, pick a Necron unit of yours that has just been marked for a beatdown. Then, for the rest of the phase, your unit gets a sweet 5+ invulnerable save to tough it out.

What to Buy Next?

Indomitus Skorpekh Destroyers 2Honestly, it’s hard to say, as this doesn’t have many minis or value. You are still more or less at the starting point for an army and can take it any way you want, whether you want to go the route with way more Destroyers or tons of Warriors and Immortals.

While it might not have the highest value, The Necrons Combat Patrol still offers a great way for new players to start building their armies and explore the Necrons faction.
