GW Reveals New Warhammer Board Games For 40k & Underworlds

New Warhammer Board Games featureTwo new Warhammer Board Games are on the way, along with another possible restock of the Space Marine game!

We saw the Space Marine Board Game release at Target not too long ago, but it looks like GW is keeping the board game train rolling. This time both Warhammer 40k and Underworlds each get a game, but they don’t say yet if they will also be a Target release or just a regular GW release.

The 40k game actually comes with some really cool miniatures we haven’t seen in a while, so could be a good pickup for existing players who want some cool minis, even if you don’t play the board game.

The latest on the new board games come from Warhammer Community.

Space Marine Board Game 3

These products represent the perfect foot in the door for anyone who’s completely new to the hobby. They’re easy to set up – every model is push-fit – and they can all be played in around 30 minutes. So if you have friends or family who want to give the worlds of Warhammer a go, these three games are a brilliant place to start.

If you want to get someone into the game, maybe getting one of these board games is the way to do it! It can quickly get someone excited about the look of the miniatures, and play on a smaller scale.

Space Marine: The Board Game

New Warhammer Board Games

We’ve been watching almost nothing but the magnificent trailer for Space Marine 2 since it launched, and have a burning need to start chainswording Tyranids in half with the good Lieutenant. Luckily, we won’t have to wait until the game releases, as Titus himself comes charging onto the tabletop with his very first miniature in Space Marine: The Board Game.

This game actually comes with a lot of miniatures, and the rules seem to be fun.

You can pick up your own copy of Space Marine: The Board Game from the Target online store in North America right now, with the game hitting store shelves later this month, but don’t fret if you’re itching to put the boot in on Hive Fleet Leviathan from elsewhere in the world – a similar game will be coming to other territories later this year.

This isn’t available around the world, but even in North America, they already sold out insanely quickly already.

While GW says you can go order yours at Target, they are currently sold out of pre-orders (and have been since within hours of the original announcement). So, let’s hope they do a big release when July 30th comes around. Or, you’re going to have a really hard time getting this, but judging from how fast the pre-orders sold out, it might be a struggle to get this.

Combat Arena: Lair of the Beast

New Warhammer Board Games 2

Descend into the lair of a deadly alien Ambull for glory, revenge, or profit in Combat Arena: Lair of the Beast – an action-packed game for two to four players featuring an eclectic collection of Warhammer miniatures. Pick from one of 10 diverse characters – from Space Marine Sergeant Vennaro to the oddly self-aware ‘robot’ UR-025 – each with their own unique skills and talents, to battle both the Ambull and each other to emerge victorious.

This comes with some really cool miniatures, and if it’s priced similarly to Space Marine, this could be a pretty decent deal.

New Warhammer Board Games 4

Not only is Combat Arena a great way of playing fast and furious games in the world of Warhammer 40,000, but it’s also a fantastic collection of classic miniatures in its own right – taking many from the excellent Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress. You’ll be able to dive in when the game is released later this month at Barnes and Noble in North America, and Müller, Thalia, Elbenwald, and GameStop in Germany.

Blackstone Fortress had some really amazing miniatures, so it’s nice to see them making a comeback, as they are hard to get, but look amazing! Then, this won’t be at Target, but at a few different stores across the world.

Warhammer Underworlds Starter Set

New Warhammer Board Games 5

The city of Shadespire is a dark and gloomy place, full of deathless warbands clamouring for glory and shadeglass, and the new Warhammer Underworlds Starter Set will pitch you right into the centre of a no-holds-barred battle for survival. This fast-paced game for two players marries the intricately detailed miniatures you love with strategic card game mechanics, as you pull off brazen gambits and upgrade your fighters to claim victory.

This board game could also be a good way to get people into AoS, as it comes with some minis and a little bit easier-to-play mechanics. Or, if you just want to get into Underworlds, this could be a good way to go.

New Warhammer Board Games 6

The Starter Set contains two full warbands – the valiant Stormcast Eternals of Ironsoul’s Condemnors and the undead Sepulchral Guard – along with two 32-card Rivals decks, over 100 gameplay tokens, and two complete rulebooks guiding you into the game. It’s the single best way to get into the wide world of Warhammer Underworlds, and we’ll have more information on this packed set coming soon.

We’ll have to see where this releases, but they seem to be trying to expand it out of the current listing on GW’s site.
