Games Workshop is Already Pre-Selling Black Friday Releases

games-workshop-black-fridayWith the recent two-week pre-order period and a lull in releases, Games Workshop is already up to pre-selling their Black Friday releases!

There has been a significant change in how Games Workshop does their pre-orders, and they are taking this week off from any releases to retailers. However, there will be some Forge World Squats to order directly from them.

So, with this new two-week pre-order period, this Sunday, November 5th, we should know the new release lineup that will be arriving on Black Friday already. Three days after we wrote this post, Games Workshop confirmed we are getting new Christmas Battleforces for Black Friday Weekend!

Games Workshop is Already Pre-Selling Black Friday Releases

Battletom Cities of SigmarSo, here’s the schedule of everything on the way. Whatever is teased on Sunday should be the release for Black Friday, as Cities of Sigmar will hit the streets on the 11th. This week is the new Forge World Squats and Necromunda releases for the 18th, and boom; it’s the 25th for the next two-week pre-order period.

Basically, with how GW is running things now, by the time you see something on a Sunday from Warhammer Community, we don’t see it hit store shelves (or mailboxes) for three weeks. This means that on Sunday the 5th, we should be seeing what miniatures will actually hit store shelves for Black Friday.

GW then recently sent this out to stores instead of their normal “Want Numbers Sheet,” explaining why they didn’t have any releases this week. If you haven’t heard about the whole change to pre-orders, you can check out everything here, but here’s a quick rundown.

Starting with the Sunday preview, stores will get sent a product pricing spreadsheet. They then have to put in “want numbers” on that sheet. On their phone call day, Games Workshop reps will tell stores if they will meet their “want” number or if they will be short (basically issuing allocations/caps after GW has heard what every store wants).

What Could We See From Games Workshop on Black Friday?

Fast Attack Box Legions ImperialisWell, there’s one big game that has been pushed back months and months… Legions Imperialis! While this could also be saved for later, there just doesn’t seem to be much time other than now to drop this.

With Old World releasing early next year, they have the Christmas Battleforces also on the way, along with the new Striking Scorpions vs. Scouts Kill Team Box; the Necron Codex release is also still in the pipeline for 2023 as well! Finally, the new Ad Mech (most likely for 2024), as they said both new books would arrive in “Winter,” which technically lasts from December 21st, 2023, to March 23rd 2024.

But here is something even more wild to consider: typically, the Christmas Battleforces go up for pre-order on Black Friday weekend. So, keeping that in mind, this could mean that they will hit preorder in just ten days, on Sunday, November 12th, for a street date of December 4th, 2023!

Either way, there is about to be a ton of releases for hobbyists to sink their teeth into. Hopefully, players can finally get their hands on Legions Imperialis this month, as it will only be three months behind schedule by then!

What do you think about already seeing the Games Workshop Black Friday releases, as it feels like it was just Halloween?
