GW delays another big release as both Space Marine and Aeldari players will have to wait until the new year for their miniatures.
Games Workshop has been delaying a lot of releases lately and most recently announced a previously unheard-of three-week pre-order window. Games Workshop has also announced another delay in the release of its upcoming miniature sets, much to the disappointment of Space Marine and Aeldari players. The Kill Team Salvation box, which features new Primaris Space Marines Scouts and Striking Scorpions miniatures, is now expected to be released in January 2024 at the earliest.
Keeping that in mind, this delay is not a huge surprise, but it is a bit unexpected as there has not been any official announcement about it as they did with Legions Imperialis.
Games Workshop Delays Another Big 40k Release
From the looks of it, we won’t see the Kill Team Salvation releases for a while.
The Kill Team Salvation box, with the new Primaris Space Marines Scouts and Striking Scorpions miniatures, is still highly anticipated by hobbyists, but it looks like they are still more than a month from release.
The Scouts were previewed with all the other 10th Edition Space Marine releases in the summer, and this box is still the only way to get the miniatures, meaning if you want new scouts, you’re just out of luck for right now until they release separately.
For the Eldar side of things, we saw the preview for the new Striking Scorpions and the Kill Team box itself finally in October, after a tease at May’s Warhammer Fest.
The good news is, we assume the Eldar players are fairing better in the waiting game, as new minis for Eldar never seem to arrive quickly…
Delays, Delays, & More Delays…
Now the bad-ish news. With the Tauros Ventor and Necromunda releases going on pre-order December 16th, with a street date of January 6th, 2024, the earliest we could even see the new Kill Team box set would be January 13th.
Even if GW put the Kill Team box on pre-order in December, we wouldn’t see them actually arrive until halfway through January at the very earliest.
This was the Original timetable for their release, as previewed back in May at Warhammer Fest.
With Autumn ending on December 21st at 10:27 pm EST, it seems like this box won’t be making it into that season, officially making this yet another new release delayed.
With part two of the new season slated for winter, if the Striking Scorpions and Scouts get bumped into that spot, this could push the Night Lords box into spring of 2024.
While the Kill Team roadmap from May gives some good insight, it seems like Games Workshop may be way behind schedule on it.
For some players, we could see where it’s disappointing to have your new rules, offset with the inability to buy the models you need, and then have them paywalled on top of that. We expect this release to do well still, but those Scouts are taking a really long time to come back with the intel! Speaking of which, this new Space Marine revealed over the summer is also still missing…
Let’s hope he appears soon, too!
