Warhammer The Old World Is Delayed

Games Workshop has issued a statement to retailers that the release of Warhammer The Old World looks to be delayed in North America.

The release of Warhammer the Old World is January 20th, 2024. However, it is now officially delayed in North America, according to Games Workshop. Late Tuesday, Games Workshop emailed out this message to retailers:

“Our Memphis facility is experiencing inclement weather that may cause delays in shipping. We thank you for your patience and understanding.”

To compound the issue, they were also closed on Monday (MLK day), which is understandable but added another day to the delay as the weather turned bad early in the week.

Warhammer The Old World Is Officially Delayed

Two days later, on Thursday, January 18th, Games Workshop emailed retailers to officially announce a delay for Warhammer the Old World.

Due to inclement weather, our Memphis facility has been closed for several days this past week. As a result, your Warhammer The Old World order will not be arriving in time for launch. We know these orders are essential to you and your customers and will be prioritized once our warehouse reopens.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

So, if you ordered Warhammer the Old World products from Games Workshop, an online seller, or your local game store, look for more details about your deliveries next week at the earliest.

Warhammer The Old World Is Delayed

With a lot of inclement weather in Memphis, TN (the one warehouse for all of North America), it looks like Old World could be quite delayed, according to retailers in North America. While GW can’t do anything about the weather, North America is giant, so they might need another distribution center to stage or produce more here.

Late Tuesday, Games Workshop emailed out this message to retailers:

“Our Memphis facility is experiencing inclement weather that may cause delays in shipping. We thank you for your patience and understanding.”

To compound the issue, they were also closed on Monday (MLK day), which is understandable but adds another day to the delay.

Retailers we polled that usually have three-day-ship times have not gotten confirmation of their orders being picked or shipped yet, so they are already not getting Warhammer The Old World for release day unless GW spends extra for two-day guaranteed shipping on Wednesday. These stores include Canada, the West Coast, and the Northeast US.

Memphis, Tennessee, is generally quite warm, but the entire US has recently been hit with an arctic storm.

Currently, GW only has one warehouse for all of North America. With temps not climbing out of freezing today and a mix of snow and rain expected tomorrow, there is a good chance there will be no North American release of Warhammer the Old World for the 20th.

UPS and FedEx have also issued statements about delays: “Shipments with a delivery commitment of Wednesday, January 17 may be delayed, with potential delays continuing throughout the week.” So, getting products out of the Midwest and the South for the next several days will be even harder.

Other hobby distributors in the region are also not shipping but are able to source orders from their other warehouses in America for game stores. So, if you ordered Warhammer the Old World products from Games Workshop, an online seller, or your local game store, be ready for them to be potentially delayed.
