Rumor Engine Roundup: Latest Bits Debunked & Solved
Each rumor engine in the first list below has been fully solved and debunked (showing the entire model through a teaser, preview, or new release image).
April 25th, 2023: Electricity Flows Through It
There is a clear similarity to Ad Mech thanks to the design of electricity-based weapons, but we think this has an excellent chance to be a future Votann release too!
Turns out it was Orks… And what an awesome mini too!
Day 2: Krieg or Black Templars?
This one is a little more generic, as a decent amount of factions use the symbol. However, we think it would be mainly for two different factions, Black Templars and DKoK!
Brand new Dark Angels! They have a somewhat similar theme to Black Templars, but we still missed this one.
Advent Rumor Engine Day 9: The Plague Spreads
We have already seen some Rumor Engines that look a lot like Plague Monks getting new minis. If you ask us, this seems like something else for them and a very famous unit!
We missed this one, but it was also a curveball! That being said these minis are sweet!
Advent Rumor Engine Day 11: A Sheathed Sword
So, this could easily be for new Bretonnians, the Imperial Guard, or a lot of AoS armies! Honestly, buckles like this are seen across almost any game, but new Bretonnians and Empire would be awesome!
We didn’t see the DA possibility, but it makes sense with their pretty decent dark-knights vibe and theme.
Advent Rumor Engine Day 14: Yarrick is Returning (hopefully)!
While a boltgun could clearly be for a ton of factions for the Imperium, there are a few huge clues to Yarrick.
We might have been a bit optimistic with Yarrick, but we can dream ok? Still, we also saw the terminator connection and it fits right at home on a Dark Angel.
Advent Engine Day 24: Dark & Stormy
Looking at this bit, it clearly screams Dark Angels. There’s only really one or MAYBE two possibilities. Of course, first is any new Dark Angels model, and the curveball is a new terrain piece.
As one of the easiest advent guesses, this was hard to miss, but luckily the revealed model was still dope!
October 11th, 2022: A Child’s Toy
Looking at this one, well, it could be a lot of things, so we are kinda stumped! It could be something like Adeptus Mechanicus, Dark Mechanicus, or even Necrons, but it’s just not clear. Nothing currently released really looks like it. (It does, however, look similar to the shape game kids play!)
We had no clue this might be a Tau mini, but with a new design, this is a great store anniversary mini to offer an alternate Ethereal!
January 10th, 2023: Smoke & Mirrors
Right when we saw this engine, two possibilities came up first. Some kind of trader in Necromunda and Hedonites of Slaanesh in AoS.
We didn’t see this one at all either! But seeing it on an Ethereal makes perfect sense now!
April 18th, 2023: Spooky Spirit Fingers
This Engine bit is pretty wide open for possibilities, but we are leaning more towards Death in AoS, making Flesh Eaters more likely than the rest. This bit might also be upside down!
We missed this one, but these new mandrakes are dope!
June 6th, 2023: A Quiver And Cape
Check out the details of the latest model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
This rumor engine is dope, but a little hard to place; our best bet is something in AoS, possibly some mercenary or character.
While it wasn’t a mercenary per-say it certainly does look at home seeing the full model now.
August 1st, 2023: Genestealer Fists
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this engine, we are pushed towards Genestealer cults or a monster-like mini in another faction. The large mutant-style hand is what does it for us.
These new rampagers are monster-like but we had no idea Kroot was a possibility!
September 12th, 2023: You Call That a Knife?
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this engine, it seems to be in the realm of 40k Imperium. We think it can likely be Imperial Agents, but it might even spread into other options, as this supposedly steel blade doesn’t give many hints!
We got 40k right, but it’s not for imperium, it’s another Kroot bit!
September 26th, 2023: The Kroot Are Loose
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
At first glance, this looks like a pretty straightforward chain/minigun. However, surprisingly the muzzle isn’t too far off to something even like Kroot!
As one of the heavy weapon options on this cavalry, the new Kroot models have a ton of options!
October 3rd, 2023: Put a Bird on It
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Honestly, this one is pretty generic, but if you ask us, this looks to be more for AoS than 40k, just the look of the rocks and birds. We would hope this is for something for Beasts of Chaos, as their line is so old!
We got the AoS right, but getting to Dark Elves would have been hard at the time.
October 24th, 2023: Khaine’s Worshipers Grow
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
At first glance, this is super straightforward and looks just like a Dark Elves staff, meaning Daughters of Khaine, traditional Dark Elves, or even Dark Eldar are all on the table!
That style of metal work is super clear. We got this one in the bag and seeing it now, the model looks great!
On Bladed Wings: 2023 Advent Rumor Engine Day 1
Well, there are really three main options for 40k with this one. We’ve heard rumors of Dark Eldar getting a rework, Tau Vespid, and Swooping Hawks! Perhaps it is even a Psyber-Eagle for the Inquisition…
We didn’t get this one spot on, but we were close. The bit image also looked more flat/metallic than we can now tell.
40 New GW Releases Left For 2023 & Rumor Engines LATEST
September 13th, 2022: Sneaky Spider Slashers
This is clearly a spider’s head! That means a clear likely release for either one of two AoS factions. Gloomspite Gits and their spider riders or Chaos and their Spider Cult that was spotlighted in Warcry as a Warband. That being said, we really hope it’s Gitz, as they need the help and probably even a rework soon!
November 15th, 2022: Under Lock and Key
This new rumor engine is very clearly a lock on a circular piece of metal, but that doesn’t make it easy to place! It could be terrains like a man-hole-style hatch or even part of a new vehicle. Who knows!
March 14th, 2023: A Duo of Spears
Looking at this new bit, we think Realmlords are definitely probable, but it still could be something else too! We are reasonably sure it’s for AoS and not 40k, though…
May 9th, 2023: A Scaled Tail
This rumor engine is very clearly an organic part of a creature, and the ridges (and lack of plates) make it look like Daemons or lizards rather than Tyranids…
May 16th, 2023: Spray & Pray
Check out the details of the latest model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
May 30th, 2023: Staffs, Spears, and Rods
Check out the details of the latest model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
This rumor engine is actually a little hard to place; our best bet is Necromunda due to the huge amount of unique aspects in those models.
June 27th, 2023: New Imperial Ammo Box
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
This rumor engine is pretty straightforward and easy to place. It is almost certainly going to be imperium, such as Astra MIlitarum, or perhaps even Necromunda.
August 29th, 2023: Tattered Boney Wings
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this engine, it seems to be in the realms of Age of Sigmar, a very clear leaning on Death. We think it will most likely be Legions of Nagash, Ossiarch Bonereapers, or even Flesh Eater Courts!
September 26th, 2023: Is that a Cyclops?
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this engine, it seems to be in the realm of AoS Death. We think it can likely be something for Soulblight Gravelords or Legions of Nagash, but it might even spread into other options, as bony creatures are more or less universal in Death!
October 10th, 2023: Smoke and Sp-irrors
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Right off the bat, it seems like something that would drop for Chaos in the Age of Sigmar. Perhaps a new Chaos Lord or some other unique character with spooky bits?
October 17th, 2023: Ad Mech Gets a RPG Rocket
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
At first glance, this looks like a pretty unique gun, which is, of course, most likely in the faction of Adeptus Mechanicus or the world of Necromunda!
October 31st, 2023: A Witch Hunter On The Prowl
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this rumor engine, Hand Crossbows scream Witch Hunters and Inquisition, but looking at it closer, it might also be Leagues of Votann or even Stormcast Eternals!
November 7th, 2023: Three Skulls Are Better Than One
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this rumor engine, only one thing is clear: it isn’t the “good guys” tying skulls together. It could be Chaos or Destruction in AoS and similar factions counterparts in 40k. We are, of course, leaning toward Age of Sigmar, though!
November 14th, 2023: Satchel Charges Ready To Blow
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this rumor engine, the hand is clearly humanoid and very human-sized! There could be a Votann possibility, but then the hand would probably have to be robotic as their hands are usually bigger than this. Necromunda and Guard seem to have the biggest chances!
November 21st, 2023: Flesh Eaters Are Courting
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community, which bears a resemblance to a certain member of the Addams Family.
Looking at this rumor engine, the hand is clearly humanoid and very monster-like. We easily went with Flesh Eaters first as they are pretty iconic with monstrous zombie creatures, but we have seen a lot of them already.
November 28th, 2023: Savage Orcs Return With Dead Heads
Check out the details of the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Warhammer Community.
Looking at this rumor engine, it is very clearly a bundle of heads, which are always going to be more likely in Age of Sigmar. In order of most likely, it is Destruction, Chaos, then Death. Definitely never an Order model, but pretty much anything else is possible!
Some other options could be Destruction in AoS too like their Goblins or similar to a Trogg.
All The Unsolved Advent Engines From December 2023
Day 3: Krieg Making a Mine Field?
Well, the minefield part is pretty obvious, as the sign just straight-up says it! However, who would use it? Who are masters of trench warfare in 40k? It all points to Krieg!
On the official Facebook page, someone even said Sappers for Krieg, and GW answered, we like your style. This one seems more obvious than some previous rumors if you ask us.
Day 4: A Smooth Coat
If you ask us, this has an AoS feel and, more specifically, looks a lot like something for the Soulblight Gravelords.
Day 5: The Branch of Justice!
If you ask us, this has an AoS feel and, more specifically, looks a lot like something for the protectors of the forests. However, it is pretty generic and could always be something on the base of a Catachan model!
Day 6: New Skaven Plague Monks?
Well, it looks pretty obvious to be something for Nurgle, and GW even mentioned a sticky book. While it could always be Maggotkin, that arm and nails look much more like a rat to us!
Plus, they need an update badly, and maybe we’ll get a huge resurgence of Plague Monks!
Day 7: The Engine of War
Well, this is obviously some kind of bolt thrower, catapult, or an engine of war! That means it could be tons of factions in AoS or almost any army in the Warhammer The Old World.
Advent Rumor Engine Day 8: A Servo-Skull Appears
Well, this could obviously be for almost any Imperial unit… but we’ve seen a decent number of rumors for what looks to be Death Korps of Krieg! This could easily be the little companion to the command squad or even resting on his shoulder.
Obviously, Inquisitors do love their servo-skulls, so it could obviously be that.
Advent Rumor Engine Day 10: Space Elf Wings
Let’s be honest; this looks quite like something for Eldar or Drukhari! We’ve been hearing rumors for a long time about more new Eldar and even rumors of Drukhari. While some people are saying it’s going to be for the Exodites, and even though we’ve heard some rumors about it, we’re not sure if that’s coming any time soon.
Advent Rumor Engine Day 12: Gretchin or Flagellants?
Well, there are a few key clues here: the small arm (well, for how buff everyone in the game is), a chain hanging, and the angle of the miniature. It could be for AoS, as it doesn’t seem too techy.
But who doesn’t want more Orks?
Advent Rumor Engine Day 13: That Skaven Has a Grenade!
As we said, Skaven has appeared a lot already on this calendar, and they very much like to use bombs / grenades! They already have a unit throwing them; however, just like all their other miniatures, they are a bit dated and could all probably use a rework (even though they are still fantastic models).
Advent Rumor Engine Day 15: Death Korps of Krieg Get a New Banner
Well, we’re going to say this looks like a banner to us one way or the other, as these symbols look very Imperial! We’ve seen plenty of Death Korps of Krieg rumors and hints in the Advent Engine, so let’s start with the possibility of a banner for them.
Advent Rumor Engine Day 16: Spooky Potions
At first glance, this looks very much something like Nighthaunts to us! While it could be something else for the Plague Monks, the hand and arm are so thin that it seems a safe bet to be something for the undead.
Advent Rumor Engine Day 17: Hooves of Fury
Well, a horse can be for a lot of armies, but there are two main ones we have our eyes on!
Advent Rumor Engine Day 18: Here Squiggy
Well, we’re going with another two options for this one; we think either a new Squig (and we have a good one picked out) or possibly some kind of new Kroot beast!
Advent Engine Day 19: Nurgle Spice Rack of Plagues & Potions
Well, bells are a staple of Nurgle (both in rat and Maggotkin form), but the rest of those potions look deadly and most likely carry some plagues! Of course, this could also be something for the Nighthaunt faction, like a new character.
Advent Engine Day 20: A Sword For The Old World
First off, it looks like some armored fist, and there is no real notion of nodes for a power sword. GW has already said the Empire will triumphantly return to Fantasy, and this looks like a perfect weapon for them! However, we won’t rule out Stormcast, as this looks very similar to an existing kit.
Advent Engine Day 21: Kislev Returns (boots with the fur)
This looks like a pretty fancy fur-lined boot. Even better, there is an old Kislev model that matches this exceptionally closely. You can also see in the groin area that this is a pair of bent legs, meaning it’s most likely a cavalry model that is meant to be mounted on top of a horse.
Advent Engine Day 22: Chaos Spikey Bits
Who loves spikes and trim more than the Chaos Space Marines? We can’t think of anyone, and they have slowly been getting most of their line reworked. However, this is always the option for World Eaters, as they only have a small portion of the models an entire faction should. Lastly, who knows? Maybe this is the year we finally get Dark Mechanicum!
Advent Engine Day 23: A Last-Minute Gift
While we hope no one wants this for Christmas, the Skaven sure does like this sort of thing! Blue Scribes would fit Chaos Daemons well, but poison is always more of Nurgle’s speed. Of course, it could be a symbol for just death, making some spooky boys under Nagash another possibility.
January 9th, 2024: Pokemon Charmander Cross Over
Looking at this engine right away, we chuckled because it looks like Charmander’s tail! But seeing as copyright exists, this is probably a plant on a base like Catachan or a model like Sylvaneth!
January 16th, 2024: Big Necron Magical Energy
Looking at this bit right away, it looks like energy of some kind, with the two biggest possibilities being something magical and arcane in AoS or even some big Necron electricity!
January 23rd, 2024: No Capes For Warhammer 40k
Looking at this bit right away, there’s no question that it’s a cloak. It does lack enough insignia or cloth work for us to lean toward 40k, but anything is possible! We think AoS or Warhammer The Old World are slightly more likely.
January 30th, 202: A Very Nurgly Hive
Here’s the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Games Workshop.
Looking at this bit immediately, there’s no question that it’s a bug hive. Those bugs do look more like flies or beetles than regular bees, though… They do look strangely like the Nurgle Iconography!
February 6th, 2024: New Kasrkin On the Horizon
Here’s the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Games Workshop.
Looking at this bit immediately, we know it’s in 40k and is a “well-equipped” faction. The front runner is the Imperial Guard with some special forces, Kasrkin, or even something similar to the fan-favorite Gaunt’s Ghosts. Still, though, Genestealers, Space Marines, and even Orks are possible.
February 6th 2024: Nurgle’s Puss Sac
Here’s the latest GW Rumor Engine model on the way for 40k or AoS from Games Workshop.
Looking at this bit immediately, it looks uniquely gross, making it perfect for Nurgle. The front runners are Maggotkin, Nurgle Daemons, Deathguard, and, in turn, even Skaven. Additionally, a new terrain piece is another clear possibility.
Either way, there are still 40 new Games Workshop releases yet to be revealed from the latest Rumor Engines. While some engines have been solved and debunked, there are still many exciting possibilities for new models we can look forward to in the coming year. Stay tuned for more previews and teasers from Games Workshop.
