Games Workshop has announced new Orc and Goblin Tribes Warhammer the Old World releases; here’s what hitting pre-order this Saturday!
There’s good news this week for hobbyists who want to expand their Warhammer The Old World armies or start building new ones. Here are the new releases coming to pre-order with your favorite retailers on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, around 1 p.m. EST here in the States.
New Orc & Goblins Warhammer Old World Pre-Orders Revealed
These releases include the new Orc and Goblin Tribe update to Warhammer The Old World, plus bundle boxes and more that will be available next for pre-order. Some seriously iconic and old-school models are showing up this week. Of course, the rules to play with all the new releases are also an offering this week.
Orc & Goblin Tribes Battalion
Get your Waaagh! going with this massive box of boyz. You get 73 miniatures in all – that’s 31 Orc Boyz who can wield spears and shields, choppas and shields, or double choppas, with a single command set, 40 Goblins who can all be armed with shortbows, or spears and shields, with enough pieces to build multiple command groups, and two Orc Boar Chariots. You also get two new transfer sheets – one for the Orcs and one for the Goblins, with 75 and 84 decals respectively.
Start a fresh Warhammer the Old World army with this great selection of classic models!
Black Orc Bigboss
This unruly mob of Orcs needs someone to batter ‘em into shape, and there’s no-one better at smacking heads together – friends’ or foes’ – than the Black Orc Bigboss, a suitably imposing new character clad in fearsome iron armour. He’s sculpted in Forge World resin and comes on a 30mm base – all the better for ranking up with da boyz.
As a new character, this model looks great and will fit right at home with the classic models in the lineup.
Orc Warboss on Wyvern
The first of the returning Orc heroes is a favourite who has been remastered in Forge World resin for easier assembly and a better modelling experience – though it still makes use of the classic plastic dragon wings sprue. The Orc Warboss on Wyvern is ready to swoop from the skies and poison your enemy with great sweeps of its stinging tail!
Troll Hag
The Troll Hag is a Behemoth character with magical abilities and access to a unique Spell Lore. Her hulking miniature – sculpted in Forge World resin – reflects her in-game prowess in the new Arcane Journal, and she’s a must-pick for any Troll-centric horde.
Orc and Night Goblin Command Sets
These two groups of August Orc and Night Goblin personages are sure to set any discerning Waaagh! apart from the riff-raff. The first set of two miniatures comprises a bulky Orc Warboss with a great weapon and an Orc Bigboss proudly holding a battle standard, while the second set includes three miniatures – a Night Goblin Warboss on a Giant Cave Squig, a Night Goblin Bigboss with a battle standard, and a Night Goblin Shaman who’s either having a very good time or a very bad one. They are all made of Forge World resin.
These resin miniatures are perfect to help your legions stand apart.
Classic Orcs in Plastic
Two classic Orc kits are returning in plastic – the Orc Bosses and Orc Boyz Mob. The first of these builds two highly customisable Orc leaders, one mounted on a War Boar and the other marching on foot, with options for a banner, paired or single choppas, a cavalry spear, shield, or a great weapon, on top of choices for heads and accessories.
The Orc Boyz Mob is meanwhile the same unit found in the Battalion box – 31 Orc Boyz with a choice of weapons and a set of command options. Both boxes include a new 75-decal Orc Transfer Sheet.
The Boyz Mob is a classic building block of Orcs, so getting their classic kit here makes perfect sense for the faction.
Classic Orcs in Metal
Three further classic Orc sets are returning in metal – the Orc Big ‘Uns, Orc Big ‘Uns Command, and the Orc Shaman with Bone Staff (whom many argue is the genesis of the modern Warhammer Orc). The first of these packs contains five Orc Big ‘Uns in three different designs, while the second comprises a Boss, Standard Bearer, Musician, and a paper banner. The third comes alone.
Classic Goblins in Plastic and Metal
Seven classic packs of Goblins also return! In metal, there are packs of four Night Goblin Bosses, three Night Goblin Shamans, three Goblin Bosses, two Goblin Shamans, and three Goblin Nasty Skulkers. In metal with plastic wolves, there’s also a pack of two Goblin Wolf Rider Bosses, and the Goblin Wolf Chariot – the chariot also has plastic wheels and a selection of paper banners.
Some iconic (and hilarious sculpts) Goblins are also returning alongside their Orc overlords this week!
Classic Orc and Goblin Gubbinz in Metal
The green tide continues with seven additional packs of returning classics, again in metal. That’s a pack of two Common Trolls, five Badlands Ogre Bulls including a standard bearer and paper banner, four bases worth of Snotlings, a Goblin Rock Lobber with three crew and an Orc Bully, a Goblin Bolt Throwa with three crew, a Goblin Doom Diver Catapult with three crew, and a Snotling Pump Wagon.
Possibly the greatest Fantasy model ever made, the Doom Diver catapult joins the lineup as a metal kit! If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out how they work in the Total War video game lobbin’ goblins!
Giant & Bonegrinder Giant
Two Giants return in Forge World resin – one remastered brute, and the other standing tall as one of the largest miniatures in the Old World. The first of these Giants was formerly made of metal, and comes with two head options. The second, the Bonegrinder Giant, is a towering model with an awesome profile to match, detailed in the new Arcane Journal.
Next to each other, we can see the huge upscale that took place from metal to Forge World resin, but even the smaller Giant still has a clear place in this army!
Arcane Journal: Orc & Goblin Tribes
This 48-page softback book is an optional supplement for Warhammer: The Old World, fleshing out the Orc & Goblin Tribes with lore, art, and maps, as well as a historical scenario, two special characters, two Armies of Infamy to heavily change the way your Waaagh! plays, a new Spell Lore, and some additional units including Troll Hags, Bonegrinder Giants, and Badlands Ogre Bulls. It’s also available as an epub.
New rules never tire! This book will help give you more freedom and options in the way you play with your Orcs & Goblin tribes miniatures.
Orc & Goblin Tribes Dice and Cards
The Orc & Goblin Tribes dice set contains 20 six-sided dice cast in green and red, including 18 regular d6 dice with the faction logo on the six face, one Artillery dice, and one Scatter dice. The card pack contains 36 reference cards, including Magic Weapons, Magic Armour, Talismans, Magic Standards, Enchanted Items, Arcane Items, Useful Rules, the Lore of Gork and the Lore of Mork.
Warhammer The Old World hobbyists have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming Orc and Goblin Tribes releases. With a range of classic models returning in both plastic and metal, as well as new characters like the Black Orc Bigboss and the Orc Warboss on Wyvern, there are plenty of options to expand existing Warhammer Fantasy armies or start a new one for Old World.
