These Combat Patrol boxes are a great choice for new players who are interested in exploring a particular faction. These sets are part of the Combat Patrol series, which were introduced by GW in 2019 after replacing the Start Collecting Boxes from 2016. Plus, they offer a quick and easy way to assemble a small army and jump straight into playing games.

Is it Worth It?
This basically gets you one of the units for free, so if you need everything inside, this is a decent pickup. While it’s not the highest value we’ve seen in a box, it is a good starting force. It gets you a lot of the core units, and with how expensive each unit is in points, the value seems higher when compared to something like Orks!
On the flip side, their previous Combat Patrol box had $80 worth of value compared to the $60 in the new one for 2024, so if you are looking for any of those units, you may still be able to track down that box online.
How Many Points Is This?
So, you’re wondering how many points the Adeptus Custodes Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about a whopping 800 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate. Blade Champion
The Blade Champion is like the Emperor’s own personal weapon, handpicked to tackle the nastiest threats on the battlefield. Whether it’s a formidable leader, a gang of killers, or a deadly war machine, this guy’s got it covered.
Armed with high-tech blades and specialized fighting styles, he’s all about swift and total annihilation.
Allarus Custodians
The Allarus Custodians hit the battlefield like a lightning bolt, ready to rip the heart out of the enemy forces. Need a fortified position busted open, a traitor warship boarded, or a vile demagogue taken down right in the middle of his personal guard? That’s when you unleash these bad boys.

Vexilus Praetors & Custodian Wardens
Custodian Wardens are the calm and patient sentinels of the Adeptus Custodes. When they don their distinctive robes, they swear ironclad oaths to stand as unbreakable fortresses of auramite and muscle, vowing that no enemy will ever get past them.
These oaths are deeply personal, crafted by each Warden after a whole year of meditation on the dizzying heights of the Gallowtower.
New Adeptus Custodes Combat Patrol Rules
As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for close combat mayhem, Tristraen’s Gilded Blades comes loaded with rules to help you blitz across the battlefield. The Adeptus Custodes may be all about close quarters, but they’re still Custodes at heart, rocking the same Martial Ka’tah army rule as before.

New Enhancement
This battle-hardened warrior gets a serious kick out of obliterating anyone foolish enough to challenge the Golden Throne.
Every time they wipe out an enemy unit, you get to roll a D6. If you land a three or higher, you snag yourself 1 CP.
Stratagem
With unmatched fury and lightning speed, the Custodians tear through enemy lines, pushing forward to deliver a lethal blow. Until the end of the phase, when your unit piles in, they can move up to 6″ instead of the usual 3″, closing in twice as fast for maximum impact!
What to Buy Next?
As we said, this is a starter force with a little bit of most of the core units. However, you’ll need more Guardians, maybe some Sisters of Silence for cheap units, and then some bikes and vehicles to speed up on the battlefield!
This is a good starting point for an army, but you really need to start adding units to move across the board and achieve your objectives. Of course, you’ll also want some more characters!
Honestly, the new Auric Champions Battleforce would not be a bad pickup at all if it were paired with this Combat Patrol Box.
