Necrons Mindflenser's Murder Court

In White Dwarf 508, Games Workshop dropped the Mindflenser’s Murder Court, a Necrons Combat Patrol for Warhammer 40k. But there’s a catch—unlike most combat patrols, this one doesn’t come in a neat, discounted box.
The new 2025 Necrons Combat Patrol had a release date of January 18th, 2025 (for White Dwarf 508). Here is a contents list of the new Warhammer 40k Necrons White Dwarf Combat Patrol:

  • 10x Flayed Ones
  • 5x Immortals
  • 1x Psychomancer
  • 6x Ophydian Destroyers

Necrons 40k Combat Patrol Combat Patrol Review

Necrons Mindflenser's Murder Court

Here, we’ll look at how much it will cost you to actually build this Combat Patrol and then break down if GW might release it as a stand-alone box set.

Models Unit Name Value
10 Flayed Ones  $116 ($58 for 5)
5 Immortals $45
1 Psychomancer $37
6 Ophydian Destroyers $125 ($62.50 for 3)
Necrons Combat Patrol
  Total MSRP:  $323

Either way you look at it, this is going to be one of the most expensive Combat Patrols out there! The other boxes all retail for $170, so if you want to play this combat Patrol, you better really also want to use the minis in games of 40k as well because it ain’t going to be cheap. Let’s hope GW does release this in an actual box. It won’t have a ton of value, but it will be cheaper than building it on its own.

Combat Patrol Warhammer 40k Comparisons

Check out how this combat patrol stacks up against actual bundle box releases, including the updated Adepta Sororitas Combat Patrol box from 2024.

Box Set Name Price Qty of Minis Value
Deathwing Assault $220 22 $124
Necrons Combat Patrol $323 22 N/A
New Adepta Sororitas Combat Patrol $168 26 $59
Dread Talons Battleforce $230 35 $140
Stompa Boyz Battleforce $210 23 $166

Is it Worth It?

Necrons wal hor 2Well, if you already play Necorns and have all the minis, it will be nice to also have some CP rules to play with. If you don’t have the minis already, it will cost a decent amount to build. So, if you need the models for your full Necrons 40k army, using them in more than one game mode would be fun.

However, we’re not sure building this from scratch will be worth the time. Especially considering that if you can’t find any discounts, this box will cost you over $300 to play Combat Patrol.

How Many Points Is This?

In Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 400 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate. One minute, you’re ready to smash through the galaxy, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Necrons Combat Patrol Contents & Rules

Necrons Mindflenser's Murder CourtThe Mindflenser’s Murder Court is the ultimate combat force drawn from  22 miniatures ready to storm the battlefield and obliterate anything in their path. If your enemies thought they could hold the line, they’re in for a rude awakening.

These guys don’t stay down. Whether it’s healing up a few wounds or pulling a dead model back from the scrap heap, they just keep getting back up. Toss in the optional Shambling Resurrection enhancement, and your opponent’s shooting phase might as well come with a boomerang warning.

mindlenser datasheets necron combat patrol rulesIf you like your robots creepy and your tactics sneaky, Mindflenser’s Murder Court is your kind of Necron party. Leading the charge is Mokhryst the Mindflenser, a cryptic psychic menace who doesn’t just mess with your troops—they mess with their morale. Backing them up, you’ve got Flayed Ones and Ophydian Destroyers, both of which are very into the whole “appearing from nowhere and tearing things apart” routine. Flayed Ones sneak up with Stealth and Infiltrators, then rake in hits with twin-linked claws. Ophydians, on the other hand, rocket across the field with a 10” move and hit like a truck on the charge. They’re basically horror-movie monsters in metallic form.

What to Buy Next?

This gets you a decent starting force with some interesting units. However, you’re going to be short on core infantry and heavy firepower! Of course, you can lean into the combat aesthetic and just go with everything melee and scary! This is really only 400ish points, meaning you can really take the army however you want.

There’s something to be said about just collecting what you think is cool and going with that! Remember, the meta will be forever changing, so buy, build, and paint what you like!

Final Thoughts on the Necrons Combat Patrol

Alright, that’s our take on the Mindflenser’s Murder Court—and yep, it’s as wild and pricey as the name suggests. Building this patrol from scratch is kind of like assembling a C’tan shard: rewarding if you know what you’re doing, but potentially soul-crushing if you’re not prepared.

Unfortunately, unless you’ve already got some Necrons lying in wait in your tomb world (a.k.a. bits box), this one’s going to hit the wallet harder than an Overlord with something to prove. Until then, proceed with caution—and maybe snag a few of these units piecemeal while you wait for the stars to align, and GW makes a box set for this.
