RUMORS: Necron Hexmark Destroyer Bundle Release

necrons hor walThe Necron Hexmark Destroyer gunslinger is on the way and if the past is any indicator, he may not be easy to buy as a release separately at first.

Before we jump into the details we should make a disclaimer: We aren’t saying by any means that he is 100% not getting his own kit. However, with the way GW is marketing him, he may be a part of a bigger (exclusive) bundle or battlebox release. Here’s why.

RUMORS: Necron Hexmark Destroyer Bundle Release

gsc gunslingerFirst, we have to talk about the OG gunslinger, AKA Billy the ‘Nid AKA Kelermoprh (his actual name). This GSC Elite option is the rootin’est tootin’est shooter on this side of the galaxy. But on that note, the only way to get one was by Kill Team special release…

gsc kill teamIf you remember a while back, the only way to grab him was to buy all the junk that came with the Kill Team set. Now we say “junk” but there was some value to be had there. Especially with the Acolyte Hybrid squad backing him up. But the key point we’re making here is that he was only found as a special model inside a bigger release.

abominantNeed another example? The GSC Amominant is another prime example. He was spotted in various previews here and there but ultimately first came out inside the Tooth and Claw Box Set.

Tooth & ClawThe thing that the Kelermorph and Abominant both have in common is that, while the GSC had army support on the way, both of these characters were on the “fringe” of previews. Meaning, they were doing their own sort of thing away from the rest of the army reveals, but had very much dedicated marketing for themselves…

Queue the Hexmark Destroyer

hexmark destoryerThe Hexmark Destroyer has finally been revealed coming with an absurd amount of pistols because reloading is for chumps. However, this guy has been set apart by all the other Necron previews with the only time this guy ever popping up (before his legit reveal) being in the back of the full army picture.

mystery necronThis was obviously a placed tease to keep us guessing.

Now this guy checks both boxes for the criteria that we’ve seen with both GSC characters from above, i.e:

  • previewed separately and by himself
  • brand new sculpt/character model

If someone said that there was a new kit/box/special release involving Necrons, our bet would be on this guy turning up within that release.

Now thinking back to GSC, it was difficult for players who didn’t want to spend all that money just for their new faction’s character to get their hands on the model. They had to wait a pretty good amount of time, although GW did make a single-release pack for them.

If this Hexmark duder does end up getting thrown into some kind of terrain/kill Team-esque release, you may want to have some $$$ prepared to throw down or be forced to wait as well.

So what do you think? Could this guy be released separately as part of some box set? Would you rather just have GW make it easy for everyone and put all the new goodies in their own package?
