FREE Month of 40k App As GW Starts To Fix Key Features

super happy guardsman wal horGW may have left a lot to be desired from 40k app when they launched it, but now you can get a month for free while they start to fix it!

If you haven’t downloaded the app and ran into some of the bigger problems yourself, we’ll be going over the main issues players had. On top of that, Warhammer Community also released a scheduled update calendar to begin correcting some of those bigger issues.

What Were Some Issues Within the App?

my warhammer appWe’ll be talking about some of the chief complaints players had within the app. There is a lot we’ll be going over but shockingly, there are a lot of other issues that were also left out. You can take a deeper dive into them on your own time if you want to.

Core Rules Linked To a Google Doc

google docStarting off, the core rules linked to a google doc. While this technically “gets the job done” for anyone who needs rules, it seemed lazy. Why pay a premium subscription for the app for an unfinished product? Now they seem to link to Warhammer Community on the iOS version.

Datasheets Were Missing & You Couldn’t Search By Faction

Indomitus Primaris CaptainAnother big issue was that everything from the Indomitus Box Set, you know all those brand new units, weren’t on the app. You couldn’t look up their datasheets anywhere.

Plus, with Psychic Awakening out, there are different sources for the same faction. However, you can’t just search “Imperial Knights”. You have to dig into Engine War or their codex to find what you’re looking for.

Misspellings & Generic Titles On Abilities

warlord trait mispellJust one example of some misspellings within the app, I am Aphlaruis was completely butchered (Again why pay a premium)?

litanies of battleIf you wanted to use some units with special rules like the Chaplain, for example, good luck finding out which litany you needed as they’re all titled a generic Litanies of Battle.

You Had to Email Someone To Unsubscribe

ork walYou’ve heard us mention “why pay a premium for an unfinished product” a few times now. Well, if you wanted to unsubscribe from the app (which by the way was a £3.99 monthly renew), there was no easy way to do it. You had to email someone a request to be removed. Plus, nobody ever said that those emails never went straight to a spam folder while GW counted their GBPs with their feet kicked up on a desk.

Update: Thankfully, there’s an easier way to unsubscribe from the app now, but they are still working on an easier way yet.

FREE Month of 40k App As GW Starts To Fix Key Features

Iyanden Guardians eldar walpaperFor starters, you can download the app on your iPhones now (which was something you couldn’t do at launch).

First of all, many of you have asked when Warhammer 40,000: The App will be available to download on your iPhones – and the answer is now! You can find it on the App Store by searching Warhammer 40,000: The App

app roadmapOn top of that, GW has pretty much apologized for the handling of the app and dropped a calendar of the scheduled updates to begin fine-tuning the app.

Hey everyone, we have some news and updates about Warhammer 40,000: The App. We know it wasn’t love at first sight for everyone. We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear, thanks to lots of constructive comments on our social media pages and some candid reviews from respected members of the global Warhammer community. This has helped us prioritise the most sought-after updates and solidify our plans to improve the app to make it the indispensable Warhammer tool we all want.

Looking at the schedule, the first week should be full of pretty big shifts. From Indomitus units being added to a new way to subscribe/unsubscribe, these are definitely pressing issues to nail.

Beyond that, they’ll begin to bring search engines to core rules and FAQS by the week of August 3rd.

You can read over all the other scheduled changed but a key takeaway is that this app is going to be under construction for months it seems. It doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as GW starts fixing the issues and the app is more or less still worth the subscription while all of this goes on. But speaking of subscription…

GW Offers Free Month’s Subscription & Wants Your Advice

angron happyNow for perhaps the best news – we want to say thanks to everyone who has subscribed to the app and got involved so far. If you took the plunge and subscribed already, or if you jump in and subscribe before the end of July (that’s this Friday – how time flies!) we’ll add an additional month to your subscription for free to show our appreciation.

Now’s your chance to help us put the app through its paces, and to let us know where we got it right and how you think we could improve it even more. Submit your feedback to our development team at 40KApp@gwplc.com.

We’ve got to say, GW has handled everything very well. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time but kudos to them for acknowledging their issues and making healthy strides to fix it all.
