eldar cover new wal horSpace Marines and Custodes are topping the charts but Xenos 40k army lists are hanging right behind them. Check out these top lists that aren’t Imperial.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen some events begin to commence bringing 30+ players to their tournaments. Using the final results, we’re going to be looking at the top Xenos lists that hit the leaderboards.

Top 9th Edition 40k Xenos Army Lists So Far…

BCPThanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

Vanguard Tactics: Matthew Truell- Harlequins

truell harlequinsStarting with a Harlequin list from Vanguard Tactics that finished in 4th place, not a lot has changed. Harlequin lists still spam the fusion pistol like there’s no tomorrow on Troupes. This list alone had 30 fusion pistols (vomit). 3CP were also spent to sprinkle in some extra relics within the army. Unlike most other factions, the Harlequins have some pretty solid choices of bonus wargear.

truell harlequins 2To play on Morale, two Death Jesters were taken and a Solitaire (the Harlequin’s version of a Smash Captain) came along with the Blitz ability. To offset the low Toughness of the army, Skyweavers were spammed with haywire cannons (as if thirty fusion shots wasn’t enough hate against vehicles). Finally, some Starweavers were also brought to help give the Troupes a bit of survivability as they moved up the board. Plus, eight Shuriken Cannons on the transports also made life a lot harder for screens and forward objective gabbers. Nice job.

Vanguard Tactics: William Abilez- Tau

abilez tauA Battalion was lead by a Commander with quad Fusion and Aun’shi, a named Ethereal. It also brought with it one squad of Breachers melting face up close while the Kroot were probably nothing more than objective holders. A Ghostkeel was taken with an interesting choice of wargear as well. Instead of the normal fusion platform, a cyclic ion raker and some flamers were loaded on.

abilez tau 2Finally, the Tau list you know and love was packed into a Patrol detachment lead by Longstrike. Two Riptides hit the field with a swarm of Drones to cover them and a couple of Fire Warrior squads were there to help create space. Nice job.

Wizards Asylum: Eldar- Cullen Burns

cullen eldar 1Craftworld and Harlequin soup finished 4th at the Wizards Asylum tournament. The first detachment in the list was a Spearhead loaded with Vibro Cannon support weapon teams, some War Walkers with star cannons, and a couple of Hornets. The Hornets were given pulse lasers to give any Infantry Primaris unit a swift end at 2-damage a pop. The Vibro Cannons just compounded the anti-Primaris firepower sevenfold.

cullen eldar 2With the anti-Primaris aspect of the list covered, an Outrider detachment of Harlequins was brought spamming some Skyweavers and a Solitaire. The Solitaire is just a one-man battleplan with a million uses. However, the Skyweavers are expert tank hunters basically ignoring saves against vehicles by doing mortal wounds. Great list.
