Worth It? New 9th Edition 40k Starter Sets Value

new-9th-Edition-starter-sets-announcedBeyond Indomitus, three new starter sets are here for 9th Edition Warhammer 40k- check out the value inside each to see if it’s worth it!

First, we have to talk about why anyone would need these starters. They’re designed for new players in particular, but if you wanted to double down on a couple of units from the Indomitus Box Set, these starters are also a way to do it for less. On that note, these three starters increase in content and value as you go up or down the tiers.

Here’s Indomitus for reference:

Worth It? Three New 9th Edition 40k Starter Sets Value

Note: We’ll be using the price breakdown we did from the Indomitus Box Set. Because these kits aren’t out individually yet, some prices are bound to vary slightly.

Recruit Edition $50

9th Recruit EditionWith a few units (including a Character on each side), a gaming mat to play on, dice, range rulers and a Recruit Manual to guide you through the basics of the game, you can’t go far wrong.

This is the lowest entry box, making it ideal for anyone who is unsure and wants to play some small games with family or friends to see if they like Warhammer 40k.  Looking at the units, we’ve got:

  • 10x Necron Warriors & 3x Scarab Bases $60
  • 1x Royal Warden $35
  • 5x Assault Intercessors $35
  • 1x Primaris Lieutenant $35

Total MSRP: $165

Total Value: $115

Elite Edition $99

9th Elite EditionElite Edition offers the perfect upgrade, with additional units in the form of Skorpekh Destroyers and Outriders, led by a mighty Necron Overlord and Primaris Captain. Like the Recruit Edition, the Elite set includes a gaming mat and a printed box interior to serve as a terrain piece, as well as dice and range rulers.

The Elite Edition is a slight upgrade that you would mainly get if you wanted a slightly bigger army to play with on both sides. Inside this one, you’ll get:

  • 10x Necron Warriors & 3x Scarab Bases $60
  • 3x Skorpekh Destroyers w/ Plasmacyte $50
  • 1x Overlord $35
  • 5x Assault Intercessors $35
  • 1x Primaris Captain $35
  • 3x Outrider Bikes  $50

Total MSRP: $245

Total Value: $166

Command Edition $165

9th Command EditionFor new and experienced players alike who are looking to start the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 in the best possible way, the Command Edition is the ultimate starter box. In addition to the same selection of miniatures as the Elite Edition, the Command set also features a fold-out, double-sided gaming board as well as a selection of brand-new, push-fit battlefield terrain to fight over

The Command Edition is the largest set. It ditches the box terrain for actual paintable push-fit terrain that you put together. This is also the box that comes with the most models outside of Indomitus. Here, you’ll get:

  • 10x Necron Warriors & 3x Scarab Bases $60
  • 3x Skorpekh Destroyers  w/ Plasmacyte $50
  • 1x Overlord $35
  • 5x Assault Intercessors $35
  • 1x Primaris Captain $35
  • 3x Outrider Bikes $50
  • New Terrain Kit- 4 Ruins, 7 Pipes, 1 Thermo-exchanger shrine $90
  • Core Book (mini-softcover) $45

Total MSRP: $400

Total Value: $235

Overall, the value inside of these boxes is pretty staggering. It’s even more appealing given the fact that this is a less expensive way to get your hands on some of the hot models out of Indomitus and some dope new push-fit terrain too!
