T’au Codex: Vior’la Sept Rules Previews

Tau Wal HorGames Workshop just their final preview of the upcoming T’au Codex. Check out the new Vior’la Sept rules and Stratagems teasers straight from the source.

The new T’au codex is on its way, and this week Games Workshop is giving us previews of what we’ll be seeing inside the covers. Let’s take a look at what they had to say about the new rules for Vior’la Sept and two new Stratagems.

Like all Sept Tenets, Vior’la Detachments are armed with a powerful set of rules that’ll allow you to build a variety of unusual and thematic T’au Empire armies. Vior’la are focused, in particular, on speed and flexibility as illustrated by the Strike Fast Sept Tenet.

Tau Strike Fast

The Strike Fast tenet is showing just how deadly the T’au can be. When a unit with this tenet Advances its Rapid Fire weapons are treated as Assault Weapons until the end of the turn. However, they won’t suffer the penalty to their hit rolls for Advancing and firing Assault weapons. Let the running and gunning begin.

The XV86 has a strong claim to being the single most improved unit in the new Codex: T’au Empire, and is particularly powerful in a Vior’la Detachment. Previously, this aerial attack battlesuit had a fixed weapon set of a missile pod and a high-output burst cannon, but all that is changing. Now, you’ll be able to arm all four hardpoints on your Commander as you please, allowing for an array of powerful builds. What’s more, as all of these weapons have the Assault or Rapid Fire type, with the Vior’la Sept Tenet, you’ll be able to effectively move 40″ every turn and fire without penalty! We’d recommend equipping your Vior’la Commander with four fusion blasters for the ultimate tank hunter. Even if you end up overextending, the Neuroweb System Jammer Stratagem should help to keep you safe – or disrupt a key unit that’s threatening the rest of your army.

Tau System Jammer

The Neuroweb System Jammer is going to cost you 2 CP’s and can be used at the start of your opponent’s Shooting phase. You’ll pick an enemy unit within 18″ of a Battlesuit Commander from your army, and they will suffer a -1 to hit for that phase.

Tau Hot Blooded

Hot-blooded is going to be the one you need to watch out for. For a mere 2 CP’s you can use this Stratagem at the start of your Shooting phase. You’ll be able to pick a Vior’la Sept Infantry unit from your army that can be chosen twice to shoot that phase, but all models must target the closest enemy unit each time they shoot. Drop this on your unit of XV25 Stealth Battlesuits and double shoot those burst cannons, then just sit back and watch your opponent’s forces crumble.

This latest preview is making the Dal’yth Sept look extremely deadly on the tabletop. This was the last of the T’au previews from Games Workshop, but you’ll soon be able to order your very own copy of the codex, pre-orders start tomorrow.

If you have to have more T’au checkout the latest rules rumors along with a summary of the most recent posts going back into last week as well.
