Get ready to slam into action with Horton Slam in Star Wars X-Wing. This Y-Wing will be able to keep the pressure on with his turret attacks!
Horton Salm is one Y-Wing pilot that has seen it all. This build will keep his distance, but won’t look like he’s keeping his distance. When Horton is attacking at range 2-3, he may reroll any blank results. This will work great with a turret style attack run.
Since Horton has no elite slot, R2-D6 is a great Astromech to equip to open up that slot for him. At PS 8, Horton will need some help in his attacking. His high pilot skill will allow him to lie in wait, and strike after lower skilled pilots have already moved.
Elusiveness is a great elite upgrade for Horton. With the Y-Wing boasting an agility of 1, this upgrade can help boost its defenses. When defending, you may receive 1 stress token to choose 1 attack die; the attacker must reroll that die. This can be a great way to minimize damage coming into Horton, and if he keeps his distance and goes slow, he can be just fine.
Twin Laser Turret works perfectly with Horton’s ability. This turret fires at range 2-3 and allows you to perform its attack twice. Each time this attack hits, the defender suffers 1 damage. With Horton being able to reroll 2 dice while attacking at range 2-3, he will be able to reroll any time he attacks with this weapon. Focus should be the only action that Horton needs as his ability will help him reroll dice.
Since Horton will be keeping his distance and slow rolling to keep his stress at a minimum, Seismic Torpedoes is worthwhile to keep his path clear. This 2 point torpedo allows you to discard its card as an action, and choose an obstacle at range 1-2 inside your primary firing arc. Each ship at range 1 of the obstacle rolls 1 attack die and takes damage on a hit or crit. Then remove the obstacle. This will work out great since Horton’s strategy is to go slow at a distance. Then you have the option to remove any pesky obstacle in your way!
