Get ready to see these T8 monstrosities soon! We are taking a look at the Dominus-class Imperial Knights, and some juicy rumored rules for them.
Warhammer Community gave us a complete rundown of the stats for these beasts, and we filled in the rest at the bottom with the latest rumors from Scanner.
Dominus Armor
Sitting at T8 with 28 wounds and a 3+ save, this behemoth can soak up a lot of lascannon punishment. Something surprising about the stat-line was the 4+ WS, but then again you don’t play this thing for the melee capabilities. Having a gun in every crevice of the armor seems more like a shooting platform.
Plasma Decimator
Plasma in 40k is great so they put it on a knight. Supercharge basically being up to 6 plasma guns in rapid fire. This thing can devastate elite infantry and light vehicles at being 2 damage a pop and -3 AP.
Volcano Lance
At 80″ range, nothing is going to be able to run from you. With D6 shots and doing 3D3 shots a piece, you can tear up a vehicle if not blow it up. How many vehicles have an invulnerable save? Not that many and at -5 AP, you can make a Land Raider run and hide.
Conflagration Cannon
This thing is a 10X better version of the Forge World Storm Cannon Array you can slap on Leviathans. at only 6″ less range and auto-hitting, there won’t be much that can withstand that kind of firepower.
Thundercoil Harpoon
If you’re using this thing to kill Space Marines and not vehicles or monsters, there’s something wrong. Youre essentially doing 10+1-3 wounds for each hit. If you don’t hit…..COMMAND POINT.
Siegebreaker Cannons
This is still very good but not quite on the power level of the other weapons, we’ve seen. This could be the cheaper alternative or secondary weapon.
Shieldbreaker Missiles
It’s a beefed up long-range melta that doesn’t allow invulnerable saves to be made. Hold on to these for other Knights and Leviathan Dreadnoughts.
Oathbreaker Guidance System
You can’t hide from the missiles! Target those characters and snipe a little Chaos Lord or FLyrant.
Trading movement for protection can be useful in some situations. Definitely worth using if you’ve got some -X AP hatred rolling your way.
Rules Rumors
According to the latest, Dominus class knights always have a chance to explode in a whopping 3d6 radius doing d6 Mortal wounds to everything around them. There is also a detonation stratagem that betters the odds of this happening to a more regular occurrence, perfect for that noble sacrifice!
As you can see from the Shieldbreaker missile profile above and its sniper stratagem, reloading said missiles in the Forgeshrine may be worth it to finish off pesky units or characters late game.
Buff wise there is a relic that confers a 2+ save, and a warlord trait that lowers the ion shield to a 4+ for the game, making your warlord quite the walking fortress with the ability to rotate ions down to a 3+ with the stratagem above.
Will you choose that or the trait that gives you one re-roll and Command Points?
Also if you like that plasma gun, but think it’s a little lacking on punch for such a large model, Cawl has a relic that bumps it to S9 -4ap 3 damage on the overcharge. Now you’re playing with POWER!
