Don’t miss your first glimpses of the new Genestealer Cult rules that may have just been spotted. It looks like something was lurking in the shadows after all.
Coming from Stepping Between Games, this looks to be a warlord trait table for the Genestealer cult. Remember, these are just rumors and it’s possible that the picture is just a cunning hoax.
Let’s hope these are true so Cult players can have something to hold on to until they get their book!
GSC Warlord Traits
- Shadowstalker: A warlord that’s -1 to hit is always a plus. Imagine something like a Patriarch being -1 to hit and having his children jump in front of him when a wound does manage to go through.
- Focus of Adoration: FoA is the warlord trait we’ve had since the index. It sounds really cool, but most of the time, your warlord is so surrounded that there’s really no need.
- Wall Creeper: Wall Creeper is pretty brutal if you want to use big bad daddy Genestealer to hunt down and pick on weaker things. You’ll usually be moving quicker than anything else since you can completely ignore terrain.
- Born Survivor: Combo this with the Abominant’s built-in D3 healing and your opponent will almost be forced to make sure he’s dead in one turn.
- Alien majesty: Surprisingly enough, GSC has a fairly high leadership all around. With that being said, you can take bigger squads and they die VERY easily. This is a solid choice as well.
- Ambush Leader: THIS is the prime warlord trait. You basically don’t ever make your Primus the warlord. Spend the stratagem to roll 3d6 on the Cult ambush table. He’ll essentially be coming in anywhere he wants. Then, have a Magus or Patriarch with 20 Genestealers come up anywhere because they can choose their result on the table. -That’s two units exactly where you want them being buffed by two different characters.
A picture of the Warlord traits definitely wasn’t expected this early. Especially in the hype of Orktober. What do you think about these traits? Will Cult be more competitive with these traits?
