Admech Took A Hit: 9th Edition 40k Points Changes

admech walThe Adeptus Mechanicus just got new units from Psychic Awakening, but their 9th Edition points changes are out and it looks like they took a hit.

Reddit has a Google spreadsheet of point adjustments for just about every faction. U/Saiek mentioned that it’s a work in progress so some tweaks are bound to turn up eventually. However, taking a closer look at the Adeptus Mechanicus adjustments, it seems like their overall lists will be a bit smaller.

Admech 9th Edition 40k Points Changes

admech points 1Starting off, the Adeptus Mechanicus have more red in their percentage increase than any other faction we’ve covered. Everything in the codex went up some degree except for the Ironstrider Balistarii and Archaeopter Stratoraptor.

Serberys Raiders and Sulphurhounds 1With that said, The Serberys and Pteraxii units which are brand new to the army have only been out for a couple of months and are already jumping up in points. Even with a base cost of 20 pts now, a fast three-wound auto-hitting unit is still very solid. We may see lists go all-in on a unit and have these guys sit as “a target you have to deal with”.

admech points 2Note: this isn’t the entire list of wargear. But shows an example of their point decreasing

We don’t want you to think it’s all doom and gloom for the faction. While their base points did go up, a good bit of their wargear was discounted a decent amount.

Overall, we think that games of Adeptus Mechanicus in 9th Edition will be slightly smaller than what we’re used to seeing in 8th Edition. With that said, that also means losses in the army will be more impactful. If you’re an Admech player, you may want to play more cagey than before.
