The A0S and 40k Christmas Battleforces have made it to the studio, check out our unboxing of both the 40k and AoS boxes!
This week we take a look at the new Battleforces and see what’s in them, the value, and talk about the situation with allocations. If you’ve been wondering what they are like this gives you a great overview. Also, if you didn’t get to pick one up, a second wave is just landed at local stores. So keep an eye out.
If you want to see the values all laid out, here are our two breakdown posts on both sets of Battleforces:
We are going to show you everything including the sprues, bits, and of course comparisons. That way you can decide if these are worth your hard-earned hobby dollars. Let’s go!
AoS & 40k Christmas Battleforces: Unboxing
If you can find them, they have some pretty interesting values inside. Rob isn’t going to unbox every single box, but he will show some. He went ahead and got all the boxes because he believes it is worthwhile to support local game stores. Some stores are getting a few more boxes with their restocks, so pay attention to your local store and see if you can grab some. There are 4 AoS boxes and 6 40k ones.
Age of Sigmar Battleforces
They are all pretty decent value, but the Ogor Mawtribes box sold out the fastest. It was pretty cool to get the big bird in the Tzeentch box and you could also use a lot of the minis in there for 40k as well.
40k Christmas Battleforces
These all had some cool combos we haven’t seen in boxes like these before. The Marine box had a pretty sweet value, but they are all loaded up with a lot of value. The Necron box sold out almost immediately and has a ton of models in that one are sold out on their site. This is also the 3rd year in a row Tau got a box.
The Values
Last year the values ranged around $75. This year the Battleforces cost you a little more but gave you about 20-30 dollars more of value each. So you pay a little more, but you get more value. This is very similar to how they are doing the combat patrol boxes, more money upfront, but more value. These are hard to get but do save you a decent amount in each.
Now he’s going to dive into one box from AoS and one from 40k.
Ogor Mawtribes Box
You basically save a hundred bucks with this box, so it’s a really good value. They double up what they had in the box combined with the Bone Reapers for this kit.
This box is chonky! It’s almost 4″ thick and just filled with sprues. You have to just dive through the box to find which sprue goes with which because they don’t divide it up by units or anything.
They also give you different instructions for every unit included. They also give you a nice reference on the back of everything included to help you sort through it all.
Space Marine Box
This is basically a little more than a combat patrol but still has great value. The box clocks in right around $90 worth of value so, if you need all the units, it’s really worth it.
This box is way smaller than the Ogor one, but still full of sprues! Just like with the other box, you’ll have to dive through the box to find what goes with what. Again, they give you all the instructions and a reference on the back of the box for what goes where.
These are pretty much for everyone (who plays these armies) because they are a great value. It just comes down to if you can find them!
