Two more off-meta army lists emerged in these 9th Edition 40k tournaments over the weekend- take a look at these homebrew lists!
9th Edition’s meta is still settling, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out these awesome homebrew lists that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. They didn’t do too bad and this just goes to show that it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.
Top Homebrew 40k Army Lists December 12th
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
Narbycon GT: Blood Angels- Sweet Lew
Looking at HQs, the Captain gives rerolls to 1s on hit rolls for core units, while the chaplain and sanguinary priest give the list some extra support in the form of durability buffs. It’s always nice to be in the assault doctrine when you need it!
Moving onto Troops, 1 Assault Intercessors and 2 normal Intercessors, give enough bodies for a cheap cost with some melee and ranged potential. Elites see two Bladeguard Veteran squads, which has become pretty standard. they are great for the cost and have a good shot at trading up.
The rest of the Elites see a 7 man Sanguinary guard squad, which have great mobility and are slightly harder to kill than their counterparts. Two Terminator Assault Squads form 6 mini-smash captains that move a tad slower and give 4 double claws for a bit of chaff clearing.
A single Outrider squad gives some extra mobility for grabbing far off objectives or harassing slower melee units. A large multi-melta devastator squad plus 3 eradicators give the list a ton of anti-armor by themselves. Finally, the Drop Pod can help transport some of your melee units or characters into the front line without getting shot up the first turn.
Narbycon GT: Imperium- Robert Moreland
Robert actually made a pretty unique choice by splashing in an Inquisitor for psychic support. People don’t do that too much, but for 60 points it’s not a bad investment. Triple Tank Commander brings some extra tanks for durability and firing power.
Troops see a ton of bodies. 30 Conscripts, 30 Guardsmen, and 5 Tempestus Scions give a ton of bodies to chew through, plus a huge amount of objective control, that some armies simply can’t beat. The two Elites in the first detachment are an Astropath to help with more Psychic support, while the Platoon Commander is just a cheap solid body.
The second detachment is Adeptus Mechanicus. Starting with a Tech-Priest Dominus and Enginseer, there is a good amount of support for healing and rerolls.
For Troops, there are a total of 12 Kataphron Breachers with claws and heavy rifles. Fast Attacks have 27 Serberys Raiders. When combined together they assist with mobility, board control, and even in the shooting phase, they can deal some pretty decent damage while moving up the board.
Overall both of these lists offer a little bit of a different approach by we like them because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta. Even better they got great results from the players who piloted them!
