Poxwalkers
Stumbling over the battlefield in stinking swarms, Poxwalkers smother their foes with waves of grabbing hands, gnashing teeth, and wriggling tentacles. These unlucky souls, cursed by Nurgle’s plagues, are turned into undead weapons by the ruthless overlords of the Death Guard.
Plague Marines
Bloated with putrid corruption, Plague Marines are the backbone of the Death Guard, and unlike many Traitor Legions, their ranks have only grown over the centuries. Devoted to Nurgle, these marines sport disgusting, rotted bodies that reek of decay. The foul slime oozing from their sores eats through armor and boils away skin, but don’t let their horrific appearance fool you—they are fearsome warriors through and through.
Typhus
Typhus, the head honcho of Mortarion’s First Plague Company and master of the Destroyer Hive, is the most dreaded commander of the Plague Fleet. From his ancient ship, the Terminus Est, he unleashes contagion and misery across the galaxy. There’s no doubt Nurgle has showered Typhus with his twisted blessings. For ten thousand years, he’s been a nightmare for Imperial worlds; wherever his fleet goes, a nasty plague follows, turning people into plague zombies whose bites pass the disease to fresh victims.
Biologus Putrifier
The Death Guard’s main gig is spreading Nurgle’s nasty gifts across realspace. Enter the Biologus Putrifiers, the unsung heroes of this gross mission. These guys take the revolting brews whipped up by the Foul Blightspawn and amp them up to max potency. Their backs are loaded with racks of blight grenades, bubbling with the newest, most disgusting plagues. Every toss of a grenade spreads their vile contagion, and their injector pistols shoot concentrated doses of pure nastiness straight into their unlucky targets.

So, you’re wondering how many points the Death Guard Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 450 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate. One minute, you’re ready to spread disease, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.
New Death Guard Combat Patrol Rules
As you’d expect from a Combat Patrol built for close combat mayhem, the Shambling Horde comes loaded with rules to help you blitz across the battlefield. The horde may be all about close quarters, but they’re still Death Guard at heart, rocking the same Nurgle’s Gift army rule as before. Walking Plague Rule
When the Plague God’s festering diseases infect the bodies of the fallen, a sickly green glow lights up their lifeless eyes, and grinning mutant horrors rise to fight once more.
In your Command phase, pick a friendly Poxwalker unit within Contagion Range of the bearer. You can bring back up to D6 destroyed Poxwalkers to that unit—because the dead never stay down for long!
Stratagem
The weapons of the Death Guard are soaked in corrosive nastiness and flesh-melting bacterial filth. For the rest of the phase, every attack made by that unit gets a +1 boost to its Armour Penetration. Because when the Death Guard hits, they hit hard!

So, you’re eyeing that Combat Patrol box, huh? Good choice! These boxes are basically the VIP pass to starting a killer Warhammer 40k army. You get a solid mix of units – from the tough-as-nails troops to those snazzy specialist units.
It’s like assembling an all-star team right out of the gate, plus you can even play this box as is in smaller games of Warhammer 40k, aptly called “Combat Patrol.”

Is the Death Guard Combat Patrol Worth It?
So the value looks pretty good, but it basically all comes from Poxwalkers. If you need them, get this box. However, if you already have enough Poxwalkers and Typhus, this is most likely useless for your collection. Besides the Poxwalkers, this box contains just two characters and one box of Plague Marines.
What to Buy Next?
Well, you have your Poxwalkers, so you need to bolster your forces with plenty more Plague Marines, Terminators, and some artillery. Death Guard has some great vehicles, with the Blight-haulers and the Plageburt Crawlers being key. So, we’d definitely grab some of them and finish off with some Bloat-drones and some Deathshroud!
