1st Place: Dean Murphy – Chaos Daemons

august annihilation Daemon 1Dean took a unique approach and mixed Death guard with undivided Daemons. The Death Guard are Spearhead led by a Malignant Plaguecaster, which is a great psyker with some special Nurgle abilities to help pump out extra mortal wounds. Fast Attacks bring with it 2 Bloat drones with Flesh mowers, making them sort of mini Daemon-princes in terms of damage output in melee.

The bulk of the detachment’s points comes from the Heavy Support, which in this case starts with two Defilers. Defilers saw a nice buff with the DG codex, making them pretty point efficient as mobile armored threats. Of course, there are also 3 Plagueburst Crawlers which have been one of the Death Guards best units since all the way back in the last edition.

august annihilation Daemon 2Moving onto the Daemon Battalion, it is led by a Bloodthirster and a Poxbringer. The Bloodthirster is a selfish leader but can dish out some seriously hard-hitting attacks in melee, often wiping out armored threats with ease if at full strength. The Poxbringer serves as a cheap psyker and also buffs nearby Nurgle Daemons with +1 Strength (this also affects Daemon Engines).

Troops bring in a massive 40 bloodletters, which are a little fragile, but just like their bloodthirster leader, can deal a ton of damage if at full strength. 3 Nurglings finish the list with some super cheap and tough bodies to tie a unit up or even just sit on an objective.

What do you think about all three of these most recent lists? Do you like seeing Daemons do well?
