The Chaos Gate Daemonhunters gameplay looks pretty epic and the hype for the game is really starting to build into something!
The original game was released back in the late 1990s where you controlled squads of Ultramarines against the Word Bearers. The new game is a tactical fast-paced turned-based RPG. This time though you will be commanding Grey Knights against the forces of Nurgle. Not too much has been said about the new version, but the trailer is pretty dope.
If you played the old game back in the late ’90s or during the rerelease in 2015, the new version should probably be right up your alley. Or if you just like RPGs, this is worth keeping an eye on. Let’s first look at the original trailer then get into the new one.
First Trailer
The trailer was revealed at Gamescom 2021 and was posted on the IGN YouTube Channel. Also, we were able to find the Steam listing for the game, it doesn’t have a ton of info yet, but does give a little insight into the upcoming game:
Lead humanity’s greatest weapon, the Grey Knights, in this fast-paced turn-based tactical RPG. Root out and purge a galaxy-spanning plague in a cinematic, story-driven campaign, using the tactics and talents of your own personalised squad of Daemonhunters.
The trailer opens with a Grey Knight getting ready for combat and praying.
After dispatching some Poxwalkers, he smashes through a wall then bullies a bunch of Nurglings.
The Grey Knights really look like they have their work cut out for them! Let’s hope four is enough to dispatch that many Daemons and a giant Great Unclean One. That’s about all we know for now, but keep your eyes peeled for more reveals coming soon!
Chaos Gate Daemonhunters Gameplay Overview
In the overview creative director Noah Decter-Jackson and the developers’ team at Complex Games. All the stills below are the pre-alpha game footage, so expect it to look even cooler than here!
The game’s main enemy will be Nurgle as you try to fight them off the planet and destroy the plague.
The game will focus more on positioning and movement than randomness, so when you shoot a gun or fight with a melee weapon, you’ll know how much damage you’ll do.
The devs said the gameplay for shooting is pretty cool but the melee aspect is where it gets really intense.
You will also be able to interact with the terrain around you and even blow up bridges and kick through doors. Just like this guy here about to blow up the bridge with that flying grenade!
You’ll start out with a core set of wargear and as you go through the game you will be able to upgrade and customize your Grey Knights. It looks like you’ll be able to get pretty in-depth on what you can change and the types of weapons. You’ll also be able to change your psychic powers around throughout the campaign as well.
