Another off-meta Warhammer 9th Edition 40k army list emerged in the Sunken City GT, check this one out!
9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.
Top Homebrew 40k Army List: Sunken City GT
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.
8th Place: Brandon Vallee – Dark Angels
Brandon’s take on a Dark Angels list included two Detachments, with the first being an Outrider led by two Talonmasters and Samael. These are good because they provide re-rolls and have some great relics/traits. Samael on the other hand has two different re-roll abilities, one being targeted for full hit re-rolls, and the other being constant for hit rolls of one. He also happens to be a beast in combat, which is always a plus.
Jumping straight into the end of the detachment and Fast Attacks, he went for a total of 9 Multi-melta Attack Bikes, which are decent weapons, and on extremely mobile bikes to help zip around and harras any strangles to help make sure he takes fights with the upper hand.
The second detachment is a Vanguard led by Azrael, who is another fantastic re-roll lord with both the targeted and aura variants, while once again being a fantastic melee combatant.
Elites start off with 2 Deathwind Command Squads for some great mini-smash captains that can and will lay down the beat stick in melee if they are allowed to crash into enemy lines.
There is also a 10 man Deathwing Terminator squad running 7 Chainfists and 2 Missile launchers for a mix of Anti-armor and melee threats that are pretty flexible in all situations. Not to mention that terminator armor helps them outlive any of their primaris counterparts (usually).
Closing out the list there is an Apothecary to help heal up units to keep them topped off throughout the game and a Ravenwing Champion, which serves as one final model to add into the melee slaughter-fest that takes place.
