Atlantic City Open: Top 40k Army Lists
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we can look back at the event as if we were all there ourselves. You can also get out the event details here.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
3rd Place: TJ Lanigan – Thousand Sons
2nd Place: Anthony Vanella – Tyranids
1st Place: Thomas Ogden – Tau
Thomas’ winning Tau was a three detachment set up with the first being a patrol led by Longstrike and a Crisis Commander. Longstrike brings some decent list support and is just a tank, which at the end of the day is nice having the extra firepower if nothing else. The Commander has decent durability and a fairly versatile weapon selection making for a good ranged threat that can wipe out models with relative ease.
Troops keep it simple with a 10-man Kroot squad just for some dirt cheap bodies to fill the slot requirement.
Elites bring in 3 Bodyguard Suits running Burst Cannon, Fusion, and Plasma for a mix of anti-armor and chaff clearing.
Heavy Support closes out the first detachment with 2 Broadsides, which are able to snipe armor-threats thanks to their 60″ high damage ranged weapons.
The second detachment is running Shadowsun, who is easily the faction’s best single model with great firepower and support packed all into one fantastic tool for the Tau players to use.
The third and final detachment is a Vanguard led by a Coldstar commander and an Ethereal. Ethereals grants access to Invocations, which are the powerful support options that replace Psychic Powers for the Tau. The Commander is notably more mobile than the Crisis option in the other detachment, but it still features a great weapon selection, making it a fantastic solo model.
The list then closes with a total of 15 more Crisis suits, each running a variety of weapons that effectively target a huge selection of models, making for very versatile ranged threats that can almost always hit something with decent effect.
