Let’s start with the specs on this bad boy and then jump into the video.
- [4K Monochrome LCD] 6.6-inch 4K monochrome LCD screen with a replaceable anti-scratch tempered glass with 9H hardness for a better light transmittance at 4098 x 2560 high resolution, protecting the screen while restoring model details to the greatest extent.
- [Powerful COB Light Source] Upgraded free-form surface COB lens consists of 36 highly integrated UV LED lights, paired with Fresnel lens to deliver an even beam of 405nm wavelength with 92% light uniformity for a more smooth surface finish and incredible printing quality.
- 【Large Build Volume】With a large build volume of 143.43×89.6×175mm (5.647×3.52×6.8 inches), you can print one large model or undergo batch printing in a single job, which saves your time and greatly improves your productivity.
- [Designed for Reliability]Non-slip hexagon socket leveling screws work with the sandblasted oxide surface build plate for stronger adhesion and more stable printing. PFA release liner with less release tension for a higher printing success rate.
- [Better Printing Experience]The air purifier with a built-in active carbon filter to effectively absorb and filter the resin odor and pungent fumes, giving you a fresh printing experience. Copper heat tubes and a powerful cooling fan with faster heat transfer and better cooling efficiency, extending the life span of 3D printer.
Unboxing & Leveling
Honestly, this Elegoo Mars 3 set up might be the sweet spot if you’re looking for Warhammer-style models. As, it’s middle of the road for the price but has great resolution and a decent size build plate.
There will be things like small lines and such the 8k eliminates, but this is a great place to start for the price.
There are some cost-saving corners cut here, as you’ll have to level the bed by hand as you tighten the screws, the build plate is just a flat surface instead of being laser etched, and lastly, the USB stick is pretty cheap, but you can just get a better one.
This is pretty typical among all printers, so nothing big. One last thing to note, the fan is on all the time when printing, so it is a little bit loud.
What Fauxhammer Likes
Now that the technical issues are out of the way, here’s what he likes about the printer:
- The pro has some extra features like a carbon filter and makes almost no smell
- The resin is ok, but he got it for free with it.
- He printed a bunch of bits, and they all come out great right with the out-of-the-box settings (obviously, with some exposure tweaking)
- The quality not only matches but can exceed what a normal Warhammer bit looks like
- Good price point
- Fairly easy to use (other than the bed leveling)
- Can print out enough detail for most 3D artists out there
- Can print pretty big trays of models
- You can scale models up or down and still get great results
How 3d Printing Warhammer Models Looks On the Elegoo Mars 3
Just look at how cool the 3d printing for Warhammer miniatures came out on the Elegoo Mars 3!
You can even print out an entire army, and the quality stands up across the board.
Final Thoughts
For the price, and if you’re just mainly a Warhammer player, this is a great printer that can get all the details you need! While the 8k printers are awesome, for the average hobbyist, 4k is honestly enough and will be more than enough, and you won’t have to break the bank!
Just one final thought, buy a better resin than the one they send you, and you’ll get much better results and be happier in the long run.
