Chaos Space Marines scored a spot as a new homebrew Warhammer 40k army list from the Hammer In The New Year tournament!
Check out this excellent homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend that once again shows that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.
Top 40k Homebrew Army List: Hammer In The New Year
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event as if we were all there ourselves.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
Hammer In The New Year: Phillip Marquis – Chaos Space Marines 4th Place
Phillip’s Chaos Space Marines start off with a battalion led by a Dark Apostle for support, a Daemon Prince for its great combat power, and a Lord Discordant for another great combat unit with some minor support baked in.
Troops start off with 10 Accursed Cultists for some very cheap bodies that prefer getting into melee combat.
The other troops are 10 “normal” cultists which are also cheap bodies but at least have some ranged weapons. Then there is a five man Legionaries squad for some slightly better quality bodies for more points and generally better stats all around in melee and range combat.
Elites have a huge chunk of the list, starting off with 10 Chosen, which have super customizable load-outs and fantastic melee options. Then there’s a Helbrute and a Master of Executions for two solo threats and 15 Possessed for more melee-dedicated units that all want to land a full-squad charge.
Finally, Fast Attacks close it out with three Bikers and five Warp talons for mobility and a single Venomcrawler for a decent point-efficient model that can shoot and do some work in melee.
