Games Workshop Shackles Stores With Ridiculous Allocations Again

GW-allocationsGames Workshop is up to its old allocations games again as the new Kasrkins, 40k Kill Team, and Warcry boxes are all heavily capped.

It looks like allocations are back for those new Warhammer 40k releases, and these are some of the tightest allocations (GW calls them “caps”) we have seen in a really long time.

Either way, all the stores and groups we polled reported that their orders were once again slashed numbers-wise for many of the new releases this week. This is also the second week in a row with tight allocations, so maybe we’re going back to see them every week.

We hope not, but it’s starting to become a pattern again. For now, though, let’s check out what goes on pre-order this week that’s affected and look at how many of each will be available.

Games Workshop Allocations Hit the New Kasrkin, Kill Team & Warcry

Here are the caps that were told to stores in some cases one day before pre-orders went live on Games Workshop’s own webstore.

  • Individual Kill Team Boxes (Kasrkin, Breachers, Kroot, and Necrons)- Two per store
  • Individual Warcry warband boxes- Two per store
  • Starters for Kill Team and Warcry- Three per store
  • Horus Heresy Jetbikes- One per store

This is two weeks in a row where the allocations have been extremely heavy. It just really hurts the stores as it drives more people to buy online. We really don’t know why they are so allocated, as GW hasn’t really said anything about it, but either way, this is not a good sign for stores.

Let’s just hope this was a little bump in the road, and moving forward, we don’t keep seeing this.

So, unfortunately, stores (at least in the USA) will not have a ton available. Maybe still check with your local store before grabbing it online, as they will still at least be getting some

However, as of this writing, some items, such as the Kasrkin and the Kill Team: Soulshakle box, are already sold out on Games Workshop’s US website!
